This is an off topic question
I just took delivery of a 130 watt laser cutter for my lab at the college where I teach (using it for rapid prototyping in my IoT class). Is there a source for the tape coated melamine that the Rostock kits come with - - or do you apply the tape at your location (which if you do - you do an amazing job - - I swear it takes me longer to take all the tape off than to build the printer - and I have built 4 of them )
Thanks,
George

Re: Question on tape covered melamine source
They apply the tape before they cut it, it doesn't ship that way. You can buy rolls of masking tape wide enough to cover your material.

And as far as the melamine itself, I believe it may be a Dakota product, as they are pretty much the only company I've found selling black double sided melamine.

Re: Question on tape covered melamine source
Awesome - thank you for your responses....after much research I kind of got the point that the tape is a manual application process - - bet you could come up with some sort of applicator (like a large edge bander) to but it on wrinkle free
Maybe send the idea to Matthias Wandel (if you have never seen his woodworking videos - they are a must watch - the man is a genius on using recycled materials to build things

Just need to print yourself a big ass tape gun and you're all set!
