Hey all,

Just thought I'd drop this here

http://youtu.be/gLwpEPalXUo

It's a link to a quick video I made this AM showing how to update the Orion to the newest firmware. As of right now, it's looking really good! There's some massive LCD menu changes, they may take some getting used to, but I think you'll like them.

You can also just go to http://github.com/seemecnc and go to the Repetier-091-ORION repo and grab it. Im keeping it there for now, but will prob. roll into the shipping orions once some of you guys have put it thru it's paces. Thanks to in2str for some of the initial config settings, I merged your's with mine and rolands, to get this one together.

Lets keep the discussion open for a few to see if anyone finds any goofy things, but most EVERYTHING that needed updating in the older branch is now up to date and better than ever

Thanks!

John, do you have an estimate of when the same will be available for the Max?

Just pushed it to github now :D

Same rules apply, you can follow the same video, and substitute ORION for ROMAX, same basic firmware, I've just plugged in the general configs for the delta values etc...

Take a look for the repo on our git called Repetier-091-ROSTOCKMAX

Wow, kept putting this off because I thought it was going to take me a long time. I think it took me 15 minutes max.

First issue I ran into was the Z height. Copied the old one just like the video and after I started up a job on the new firmware the head crashed. It was only off like 3 mm max. Don't know why it happened, just recalibrated the Z height using the new setting on the LCD, loving that feature!!

Thought I had less stepper motor squeal but I think it was a fluke. Overalls seems the same.

Otherwise will keep testing and update if I find any issues.

Is the Orion shipping with Version 0.91 of Repetier?

Eagle,

It is sir. There were a few machines that prob. shipped out this week with the older version, hence the how-to update videos, but all machines now rolling off the line are set up with the newest 091

Thank you, John. That is great news! Just waiting for my refund and I'll be a proud owner of an Orion!
Can I get mine in Hot Pink? (just kidding) :)

Updated last weekend. This solve the problem I had with prints stalling!! Woohoo.

However, even after following the video, the head crashed into the bed after updating firmwares. No big deal to re-calibrate. Now, my bottom layers are not touching everywhere. I can see gaps. Do I just need to lower a little bit or is there another setting I'm overlooking. I had great looking prints before, so I'm guessing it just needs to be lowered?

To check your distance from the bed, warm up the hotbed to 75 - 100c, get a piece of paper, put it on the print surface and send the command G1 Z0 F2000 - check the distance from the hotend to the paper - you should be able to slide the paper around, but 'feel' the hot end gripping the paper. If there is no grip - your nozzle is too far away from the bed, if you can't move the paper, you're too close!

Is it possible that the delta radius could have been affected by the firmware upgrade? I'm continually getting the center and outsides as being off, as in the center puts down almost no plastic and outside of a 1.5" diameter it lays down a perfect bead. Tried to do individual leg height calibrations and then center height with no luck.

If you did not report your old delta value to the new firmware, there is great chance for it to be off now.

When you install the new .91 firmware, you have to recalibrate the machine.
