Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
I do thank you for the print! I'll look over the manual and try reading some other stuff too. I'm just an overly cautious type and plan out my purchases.

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
I was told on another forum the 20 or 25 micron. They didn't know much about the printer... and obviously they actually knew nothing, and they refereed me to just sign up here. Read, ask questions, read the manual. Just all around learn what I'm doing before I buy. They're also the ones that said to ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
This is the item I want to make. The ultimate goal. I made this example out of wood to show it and had intentions of casting it. After several attempts, I just couldn't get casting to work. I played around with it for about 5 years now. I figure now 3D printing might bring it to a reality. If I can ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
Yeah the nozzle has never clogged on the Mini. It gets some melted plastic around the nozzle after every print, but I clean it each time. I never had to disassemble it at all.

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
Oh and also the size limitation is 5 x 5 x 5... so that's another reason needing to upgrade.

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
Yeah the hacking scares me, hehe. I don't know enough to do it, and I guess what my reservations are on the Rostock. I have just stuck to the confines of the program. I haven't even tried a different program than what they shipped it with. I have it set to the full 200 micron and there's a second ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
The UP is a .4mm in size. I'm still new to 3D printer technology and really don't know all the differences. As far as I know, that's it for the UP, you can't upgrade it to better. If you do, you risk clogging it up every time, but you'd still be at 200 microns I guess even if you do. From my ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
I'm starting to get decent with designing. That's why I wanted something better to print my ideas out with. I have been pretty well happy with the UP! Mini other than it's low resolution. I figure it's pointless if I'm getting something new to settle on 100 microns with me currently at 200 microns ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
Yep I scaled it when I was printing. I just used the program the printer had. It lets you scale up or down by the mm. I opened it in zbrush too and had messed with the opening to make sure they stayed wide enough.

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
Hmm... here's what I mean here. This is a box I made with a removable top. Using this Thingiverse file: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:144255 The edges are pretty sharp. Lid fits nice. Wasn't really a lot of clean up needed. Of course it's white ABS plastic so it;s hard to get a nice shot of it ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
Also noticing the cubes do not have corners. Instead they are rounded. Is that by design or the machine turning corners into rounded surfaces?

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
Here's some examples of things I have done with my UP! Mini. This would be a good example of what I am looking to improve the print quality on. Currently what I print with it looks like velvet almost. It's pretty solid on it's fills and all that. It's just that it can only do 200 micron and has such ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
I guess the only thing left I would need to see if anybody would mind is showing me what the bottom and top of a print looks like? It can even be a box. Anything that shows a good flat top and bottom surface. That's something over all hard to actually find samples online of any printer actually. The ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
I guess I should just ask since these other printers were the ones referred to me. How does the Rostock stack up against the Flashforge Creator Pro. Also compared to the Wanhao 5S Mini. Those were the 2 that was most popular among friends and on Facebook. Just from my own observation I assume ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
Ok, looking at some of the prints I'm seeing, I saw this one: http://forum.seemecnc.com/download/file.php?id=6006&mode=view Is that typical of the in fill for the printer? Or am I looking at like a 300 micron in fill? I'm used to seeing a good solid fill line and not like rope poured between 2 walls ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
My UP!, I've only done the nozzle calibration. I only have had to do it every so often. Generally it's only because the nozzle seems to shift off and gets too close to the print bed. The result is the raft sticking. Beyond that, never had an issue. Is that pretty much all we are talking about is ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
Oh I guess I should also ask, once the calibration is dialed in, is this something that continues to be an issue or is it fine once it's dialed in.

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
Ok, sounds good. I can fix most things with good direction. Being new is making me overly cautious I guess. I just really wasn't comfortable with the idea of getting a Flashforge as people were recommending me to do. Of course too, once I have learned more using the Rostock, I guess I'll probably ...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears
I guess that's the part I'm slightly afraid of is hearing parts burning out. Being new to 3D printing, is that common for any printer? If it's not that big of a deal I guess I'd be fine with it. Would it be best to have the common parts replaced right away rather than wait, or is that something that ...

Want to buy, got the newbie fears
I'm very new here and made a post in the welcome section. I have been looking at printers since before Christmas. I wanted to research printers before I jumped in. After looking at so many of them, people recommend me to get the Flashforge Creator Pro. While I almost went ahead and bought it, I ...

Re: New
Thanks. I have an UP! Mini and I'm used to people saying horrible things about that printer, but yet it's been fine for me, haha. I've made some decent stuff with it, but I do need something better. I got it more than anything to learn what I was doing on a 3D machine before I really spent more ...

I just joined, I currently do not have a printer. I wanted to look around and maybe ask questions before I took the jump. Just wanted to do my first hello post!
