Re: Dont wait, go convert to Duet3d now!

Thanks for your kind words! I just spotted this Rostock upgrade announcement from SeeMeCNC on twitter: https://twitter.com/hashtag/Duet3dwifi Wow, timing! Glad to see I have increased my printers value 60% since purchase. Also good work getting the Duet in "mainstream" ! :) Might get their new ...

Dont wait, go convert to Duet3d now!

I cannot overstate how much better this is than the Rambo setup supplied in the Rostock. It's litterally like a different printer. I sent the same GCode (one of mhackney's "plungers" for the FSRs) to each, same filament (Polysmooth) and the print on Duet is so so much cleaner. The Duet is a joy to ...

Re: 32 bit RAMBo

Researched it and ordered, seems like a good call, thanks!

While waiting on delivery Im checking out the Duet Config generator:
https://configurator.reprapfirmware.org/

Making progress, tho I note it doesnt include the FSR (which I also ordered) as a Z Probe option.. hmm.

Re: S3D V3 Settings for Rostock Max V2

Just testing now, 266 is way too large, its out of bounds on the extremities. 197/98.5 appears correct dimension wise, not sure if that has other side effects tho.

Re: S3D V3 Settings for Rostock Max V2

Wonderful.. but my question is where are 197mm X/Y and 98.5mm Origin Offset coming from? These are the figures S3D says are correct for the Rostock.

Re: S3D V3 Settings for Rostock Max V2

Just digging this up as Im getting a bit confused in fine tuning my Rostock Max V2 (with upgraded ball joint arms and carriages).. What are the correct figures for Origin Offset and Build Volume? The Wizard in S3D is putting in 197 build volume and 98.5 Offset.. 197 is a lot smaller than 265mm ...

Can anyone comment on this? The stupid behaviour it runs when disconnecting/reconnecting and Tool Change is just making pointless pools of plastic on my heatbed which I need to scrape off.

WHY!?

0.92.4 (official) plus 3rd party Dual Extruder (prometheus system)

I have the Prometheus System extruders which are similar in principle to the SeeMeCNC Y Coupler. I figured maybe I should update from my old but working .91 firmware (fine with the dual extruders) on the Rostock Max V2 to the later SeeMeCNC version of 0.92.4. So It now has tweaks in it for dual ...

Re: Disaster - tennis ball sized molten Nylon melted to head

It's probably a good time to upgrade to Trick Laser Arms and get yourself a E3D v6 or Prometheus hotend. If you're going to be printing specialty filaments, you want a hotend that can handle the temps necessary. I'm surprised you are printing nylon with the stock hotend. Maybe I'm misinformed but I ...

Disaster - tennis ball sized molten Nylon melted to head..

Everything was working so well recently, but I switched to a new pritt stick like glue yesterday that I thought was the one every else used (goes invisible after drying) and seemingly the Taulman Bridge didnt stick (or came undone during the 5hr print). Woke up to the rank smell of burnt nylon fumes ...

Re: Print top of spheres and other curved surfaces correctly

And you are using a layer fan? Yep. Cura works fine with the rostock. What Cura does for areas like the one shown in the first post, is to build up infill to support the curved top section. Even if infill is set to 0, it will add infill support on the edge of the curve. It looks weird while it's ...

Re: Print top of spheres and other curved surfaces correctly

What size nozzle? What is your layer height? Layer width? 0.5mm nozzle, standard PLA settings for Rostock Max (as supplied)... 0.35mm and 0.2mm off the top of my head. I've found Slic3r is terrible at this, and Cura excels at this. Hmm, surely if its consistantly this bad people wouldnt use it at ...

Print top of spheres and other curved surfaces correctly?

Im having a problem with any curved surface, when it gets to the top (or sometimes bottom if shape like eye socket in skull prints) its seemingly just not bothering to fill in the shape with enough layers, leaving huge stringy/squiggly gaps. Rest of shape prints nicely!? See attached image: It gets ...

First layers very stringy with PLA, rest perfect

I've just got a Rostock 2 all setup, initial prints were with Taulman Bridge. Looked OK but very slow to print and require lots of string clean up. I've switched to PLA for larger things, currently printing the Mayan skull on thing verse. Looks so much better than the nylon Bridge. At defaults it ...
