YouTube has a couple of great videos for a multi-extruder that uses two stepper motors, one to drive the feed roller, and the other to operate a cam that applies pressure to the selected filament against the feed roller. Just a thought, feel free to correct me as I'm no expert, but couldn't this method be used to in a way "3D print" your own circuit boards, using something like a paste extruder to prep the areas that would be plated as your circuit etchings before plating with copper?
