Re: Kraken thread
That reminds me of a delta printer I saw a while ago (http://deltaprinter.co.za/glass/index.html) that uses a pulley and counterweight system to hang the extruder motor above the end effector. You could try to make something like this, and adjust the counterweights to compensate for the added weight ...

Re: Kraken thread
The main problem with mounting a regular nema stepper motor to the end effector is the weight. I see two solutions:
1) use a small geared stepper (cheap unipolar ones can be modified to be used as bipolar).
2) use some sort of flexible linkage to connect a stepper to an extruder on the head.

Re: Kraken thread
One of the nice things about the azteeg is it supports separate power supplies for different parts. I have actually upgraded ours with two separate power supplies, the stock atx and a 24v one for the bed. The bed draws a ton of power on its own, so having it on its own power supply has taken the ...

Re: Kraken thread
It actually was the slight slop in the rods. The added weight, and the lower position of the nozzles on the kraken, resulted in even tiny rotations of the end effector platform causing substantial relative changes in height of the nozzles. Replacing the stock arms with the trick laser carbon fiber ...

Re: Kraken thread
I tightened up the loose carriage, and checked all the rest to make sure they were also tight. This seems to have made it a little better, but there is still some height difference between the nozzles as I leave the center. I redid a careful calibration to make sure all of the towers were calibrated ...

Re: Kraken thread
I don't think so, I have the belt tensioners installed, so there is very little play. Actually now that you mention it, I just noticed that one of the carriages appears to be a little loose. I am going to try and tighten that up and see if that is the problem. Any slight wobble in the carriages ...

Re: Kraken thread
What is happening to my printer is what is shown in your drawing (or the inverse ie. the box would rotate the opposite direction as you go farther from the center, I forget which). As I mentioned before, I believe this may be an issue with the towers being slightly rotated or a slight difference in ...

Re: Kraken thread
So as I understand it, your drawing is incorrect. The boxes should all be horizontal, it is just the position that follows the arc. If your drawing were correct, then if you moved to one of those positions after fixing the software settings, you would still be at that angle (which is what is ...

Re: Kraken thread
Are you sure? the way I understand it, what keeps the effector level to the print bed is the inherent geometry of the system. Thus, no matter what the drive belts are doing (which is all that software control is able to change) the effector should remain level to the bed. This is a result of the ...

Re: Kraken thread
You are correct about the software needing to know the correct values to travel in a plane, but even if it is off, the entire print head will still remain parallel to the print be as it travels out of plane. This would result in all of the nozzles lifting/crashing rather than individual nozzles ...

Re: Kraken thread
From what I understand of the delta configuration, if the towers are properly aligned and the arms are all uniform etc (in otherwords the build is perfect) then the print head platform should be perfectly parallel to the bed at all positions, in other words I should not see this. Printer radius ...

Re: Kraken thread
So I have installed my kraken and I have completed some first prints, but I am having a bit of a problem with leveling the nozzles. I bring it to center, level two, then move it to the side, and the first is good, but the second is now higher than the first. Moving it the other way results in the ...

Re: Extruder gouging filament, run out of ideas
try this: 1) Remove the bowden tube and PTC connector (look inside the PTC and make sure the metal ring is still intact I have had this break and a piece of it fall into the nozzle) 2) heat up the nozzle to just under your normal running temp 3) take a small section of filament and manually push it ...

Re: Extruder gouging filament, run out of ideas
yah, there looks to be plenty of slack. Just an idea. Have you tried printing a test cube positioned near the edge? I wonder if one side tends to fail more often than the others.

Re: Extruder gouging filament, run out of ideas
When you reach the outside of the print area, is your bowden tube getting stretched straight? Maybe you need to increase the length a few inches. If the tube is being pulled in the PTC connectors, it could be pinching the filament slightly, which in combination with a high backpressure in your ...

Are you using the adapter from the github repository to use the ezstruder or do you have the geared extruders. Trying to figure out how it all fits together.

Re: Kraken thread
I imagine. I will contact seemecnc to see if I can get a copy of the dxf files for the old sidearms, maybe put two of those on mine as well.. I like the idea of having it balanced with two on top two on sides. Will have to make some spool holders for the spools to sit on my desk for the sidearms ...

Re: Kraken thread
I am about to start Kraken on my Rostock, and I had a couple of questions. I am planning to use the Azteeg X3 pro, and I was wondering if you had any elegant solutions for mounting? also, can you hook the LCD that comes with the Max to the Azteeg board? or do you need a different LCD panel if you ...

Rep Host not receiving temperature information properly
I just connected to my printer this morning, and the temperature curve on rep host wasn't updating properly. After messing with some settings, I found one that allowed me to see the temperature again, but it looks really strange. Any idea how to get the old nice line back? Setting was under printer ...

Re: Kraken thread
Yah, I am looking forward to further developments with color/material mixing nozzles. I still think having multiple nozzles is going to be a necessity for certain applications, but for compatible materials and for multicolor parts, a single nozzle with an active mixing element will be the way to go ...
