Wifi camera with iPhone...
I am considering purchasing a Wifi camera that can be connected to an iPhone.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of camera to purchase that
will work with the iPhone? (4G)
Thanks,
Norm77

What are you trying to do? I use an old iPod and "Presence app" to see my machine from the other room.
Re: Wifi camera with iPhone...
Basically I'm trying to do the same thing. I want to set up to watch my 3D printer
and watch it on the iPhone. I would like to be able to set the camera up so that
I can see the print bed, so I guess I'm looking for a camera that records within
a few inches from the bed.

If you have an old webcam laying around you can hook it up to your computer, then use LogMeIn or something similar to access your computer from your phone, then just look at the webcam from there. You wont get good framerates, but enough to let you see what's happening with the print.
I did this for a few months when I lived 30 mins from where my printer was. The upside to this is that you can cancel a print if you see it doing dumb things.

Here is a video using an old iPod my kids had.d them used for $30 all over.
And here is the Presence app:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/presenc ... 98211?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I don;t leave my printer running when no one is home, but at least I can see whats happening if my kids or wife calls.

You could always get a Dropcam.
Re: Wifi camera with iPhone...
I had a similar idea and went with a Foscam 8910

What about the whole Raspberry Pi / Octoprint / webcam combo for remote control as well as keeping an eye on it?
Re: Wifi camera with iPhone...
Guess I'm a little late in posting this. I did get a DropCam awhile back and have
been using it most of the time for some of the longer prints. It work great.
Thanks for all of your input - you guys are really great.
Take care,

I made a Ustream account and found a crappy old webcam. I can watch my printer work by watching UStream at work, if I need to cancel the job (hasn't happened yet) I can remote in and do so.

Simple yet very effective.geolupulus wrote:I made a Ustream account and found a crappy old webcam. I can watch my printer work by watching UStream at work, if I need to cancel the job (hasn't happened yet) I can remote in and do so.
