Nice, What speed did you have it set at, and is the ABS or PLA? I imagine ABS since no cooling fans yet.

For this one I just had it set with the stock SeeMeCNC ABS settings (yup, ABS for now), which is 100% speed.

Looks like it needs a tiny bit of cleanup, but not very much!

So it's close, but not quite a cigar.

When it finished, I found the PEEK fan wouldn't fit, so I did some measuring and found that it was just a bit off.

So it's printing slightly askew - to the tune of 1mm, but enough that the fan won't quite fit. The dimensions at the bottom of the print seem much closer to the .stl model than at the top.

Any ideas what would be causing this?

Did you print a cube and check your sq.

Nope, was just following the orders... er... instructions

. Was worried about damaging the PEEK nozzle if I didn't get the cooling fan in-place relatively quickly. Or does that just help the print quality?

Was getting late so didn't have time to try another print - I'll do the cube first thing tomorrow. Which adjustments should I be looking to make if the cube isn't perfectly square?

Just a quick update - tightened up the belts a bit more and did another test print - FAR better.

Found a good way to tighten the belts (at least for me) was to take apart a wooden clothespeg and use the two sides as shims to apply tension and adjust the upper bearing.

Had another thought that I might print myself an ABS "belt tightening wedge" that has two equal shims that are connected at the near end so I can slide it under, adjust tension and keep everything level on both sides.

Edit: Also had to dial-down the extrusion multiplier in the slic3r settings to 0.7 to get the flow correct. Think I need to calibrate the extrusion settings a bit more, but it's getting more and more accurate the more I play with it. Hopefully the final step is a tiny bit more work on a couple of the delta arms that are just a bit too tight. Thinking a dab or two of lubricant should help.

That's a pretty nice design - won't work as-is with the V2 due to changes in the top idler build (there's a melamine piece at the top of the idler tower that the top plate screws into), but it could probably be adapted with a bit of work.

Since my last post, I've dialed in the extrusion rate multiplier quite accurately, and combined with the belt tightening, it's almost completely solved the error in my original prints. PEEK fan shroud came out fine and the fan popped in easily, and I'm doing the PLA blower duct right now.

First print felt great! I finally got everything dialed-in, and printed the PLA blower as well:

Fits perfectly and printed this at 100% feed and 100% flow. Now I just need to work on the bridging settings a bit to fine tune them, then I can start printing stuff for fun!

In the meantime, thinking of switching over to PLA. Any thoughts on PLA vs ABS on the Max?

Either filament should print fine on the Max. To me it's just a personal choice on which to use. With PLA you would want to enable cooling when
you slice the part and the average bed temperature would be approximately 60c. There are some interesting topics about using hair spray to help
the part stick to the bed and with PLA you can use paper that you adhere to the glass. PLA sticks great to paper and if some sticks to the part you
just need to rinse under some water and the paper will come off. Works great and no glue or hairspray is needed except for the spray adhesive you
put on the paper to hold it to the glass.

Tried a much larger print last night - the edge resolution is fantastic. Had some problems with the top as I only did a 10% infill for test purposes. Still, pretty cool!

Not too shabby! Might need a bit more work on the speed/retraction settings, especially for fine details (this was my first print with my tweaked Cura settings), but I'm pretty happy with it.

Nice! Not sure what slicer you're using, but i found Cura seals up the top surface areas much better than Slic3r. I'm sure if you're better versed than myself with Slic3r that you could figure it out, but i couldn't seem to get things right when it came to nicely sealing the top.
