Can you post a picture of a round item you've printed?columbia_u2 wrote:Ar there any instructions that I can download to help me calibrate my Orion printer?

How "out of round" is it? And you mean in the "top down" plane, of course, right?

Ok here is my print out of the small screw driver
thanks

Calibration will not help. I have already been through that with seemecnc. I calibrated mine about 10 times and it did not help at all. It will have to be replaced.

Re: How do I calibrate my Orion
Was the a solution to this "out of round"? My Orion has just started to this. Previous round prints were near perfect. Anyone else having this problem?

Re: How do I calibrate my Orion
They sent me a new machine. It prints great. I have not and will not connect it to my computer. I will just keep printing from the memory card. I don't know what causes it but the test blinky they sent with it was round so I know it was working fine when it left the factory. I too would like to know what causes this problem.
Re: How do I calibrate my Orion
Thanks for the reply. My was working great. The test cube now prints on an angle. Everything seems to be shifted 1.6 mm. Has anyone had a Rostock max do this? I will post some pics shortly.

Would you tell us how you fixed it so that we all can learn?Holy1 wrote:Got it fixed. thanks for any suggestion!

Re: How do I calibrate my Orion
The 2 pics show a before and after. The problem was a completely seized u-joint onto the axle. The axle was rotating in the Carriage U-Joint mount so it was acting like a u-joint but with a lot of strain. Took it apart, cleaned and lubed and away we went. This machine only has 800 meters of filament through it so I guess regular check ups- Lubes are essential.Eaglezsoar wrote:Would you tell us how you fixed it so that we all can learn?Holy1 wrote:Got it fixed. thanks for any suggestion!

Re: How do I calibrate my Orion
Seemecnc is sending me a new set of u-joints and axles for my new Orion. They will arrive today. I have a concern on how to to remove the upper axles. I see the screws but after i remove those screws do I wedge a screwdriver behind them to pop them off? I do not want to damage anything.
thanks

Re: How do I calibrate my Orion
Once the screws are removed the axles should be easily removed by hand. The screws simply stop the axle from moving forward and falling out.columbia_u2 wrote:Seemecnc is sending me a new set of u-joints and axles for my new Orion. They will arrive today. You should not have to wedge anything behind the axles and I highly recommend that you do not use any prying tool, those axles can bend easily.
Re: How do I calibrate my Orion
If he's replacing the axles (and u-joints), bending the axles isn't so much of a worry.

Re: How do I calibrate my Orion
There is no press fitting to do. Just hold them in place and tighten the screws.columbia_u2 wrote:so would the new axles be press fitted in or do I use the screws to press them in?

I seem to miss the obvious. You are, of course, correct.geneb wrote:If he's replacing the axles (and u-joints), bending the axles isn't so much of a worry.

Re: How do I calibrate my Orion
I do hope you put a little white lithium grease on the axle where the u-joints ride so you won't have to go through this again. It may not be in the manual but whenevercolumbia_u2 wrote:I just wanted to thank everyone Including John for sending me the new axles ans u-jonts and just like Holy1 one set was realy locked up .
