Help Please

Post by myrandr »

So, I have a Rostock Max V4 - I bought a pre-built. I CANNOT get a clean print, and with PETG I can't even get a first layer down - Atomic Filament, blue tape, 240 @ nozzle, 80 bed (I have tried ranges from 60 to 100 for bed and 220 to 245 for nozzle). I have been keeping speeds low, no cooling during first couple of layers (though I cannot get a clean first layer so kind of irrelevant at this stage).

I think it's a flow/z offset issue but I am off what my initial questions is.

This is my second 3D printer, I have a Qidi Tech 1 and have been printing for over 3 years, so I am not new to this...but I have always used Simplify3D and SeeMeCNC recommends Cura so I am learning it - has some nice features (to many at times) but not as intuitive.

The pre-set Cura Profiles provided do not include settings for Rostock V4 - does anyone know where I can find profiles for this machine? The profile available for 5mm nozzle does not have the right settings for the V4 (dual extruder, wrong bed size to mention a few).

Does anyone have any GCode for testing/calibrating layer height?

Does anyone have any GCode for testing/calibrating print temp?

What are the extruder controls on the web interface for the printer (Feed Amount and Feedrate)? I can't find any documentation on interface and how to use, what the intentional use of these settings are (on the fly adjustments and for customizing for filament/print types).

I know there are a lot of questions but I am frustrated, I have spent the last 8 days trying to get a decent print and I can't and I am very much regretting getting a Rostock right now.

Max Petg (testing).fff.txt
(13.07 KiB) Downloaded 280 times
You can also find profiles here: https://github.com/seemecnc/slicing-pro ... SE300/Cura
Cura profiles for the SeeMeCNC machines go by hot end type, not machine type - at least regarding all the Duet-controlled machines.

I've never printed PETG, so I don't have any advice to give you regarding that, sorry! That being said, I rummaged round the file section on the SeeMeCNC FB group and found this:

. Rename it to drop the ".txt" off. This is an S3D profile someone created for the Rostock MAX and PETG. Give it a shot.

Thank you! It's a starting point that I most definitely appreciate!!!

I have been going through micro adjusting setting to see if I can dial it in and just cannot get something decent, I will keep trying - give it a solid college try before I throw it through the window. lol

Have you tried printing with PLA on the v4 yet?

Yes, I get "better" results but I have been unable to get a consistent & decent print. The only prints I have gotten a good print on as those using a raft - rafts forgive a lot of issues. Always having to use rafts is not really how I want to have to think about a printer of this level.
