Dual extrusion video - Rostock Max v2

Post by AlanZ »

A few days ago, I updated one of my 3D printers, so it can now do dual extrusion.

The hardware is performing very nicely, and after some tweaking of the slicer settings, I’m getting some nice dual color prints. Without going into too much detail, this video shows how I have the hardware set up, and the resulting very nice print.

Nice video. Thanks for making it. I have a prometheius system sitting in a box which would do a similar (exact) same thing. What slicer / tool change settings are you using?

Joe, over the next few days I will try to capture the settings I used in Simplify3D

Thanks. The guy who makes the Prometheus states he can't make Simplify 3D work. Your setting would be helpful as that is my goto slicer.

I see others have asked for the S3D setting you use. Not trying to sound rude but you seem a little elusive. Is there a reason for that?

Not elusive at all, just very busy... I brought my Max v2, Eris and the computer with the software and settings on it to a local MakerSpace this past weekend, and I have not had time to unpack all of the equipment and get it reinstalled. I should be able to do screenshots tomorrow of every tab in the profile I used for the tree frog. I can also publish the header comment section of the Gcode, which lists all of the settings.

Joe, no problem at all. The more of us making successful prints, the better

AlanZ, your gcode shows "printExtruders,All Extruders". I am unable to generate such a line. Do you know what S3D setting is generating it?

Mine is "printExtruders,"

thanks

I haven't looked into it much, but a quick glance at two of my gcode files implies that it appears if using the dual extrusion wizard.

Yes indeed. I uploaded a dual printer profile from "Configuration Assistant" then I customised it back to Rostock parameters. Selecting the All Extruders option results in "printExtruders,All Extruders" in gcode produced.

Print test fail. The E1 doesn't start :(

I'll go after Pins.h checking

--- about E1 extruder not working .... it was "only" :o :o  a matter of uploading firmware with Arduino IDE 1.6.0 and not with 1.8.3.
