Ok guys and gals, after last months Halloween contest, lets see what you can do this month. For November and with winter well on it's way in most places, we're going to see what you can come up with in the way of winter tools. Maybe it's a windshield scraper, maybe it's a cover for a padlock on a shed so snow doesn't get in it and freeze? Maybe you're going to make the first 3D printed snow blower! (not sure, just sounded awesome!)

As always, here's the rules for entry
Must post pictures of the completed print at least, if not pics of the process (brownie points).
Must upload the file to a freely downloadable file sharing site, such as repables.com etc...
Must have an open source license with no NC (non-commercial) disclaimer
Must be posted in the forum here by November 30th, we'll judge on the 1st of December

PRIZES! Everyone loves prizes right?

1st - $100 gift card to seemecnc.com
2nd - $50
3rd - $25

However we're going to reserve a special prize at our discretion for anyone who can really amaze the community with their design. It may not happen this month, maybe next month, but lets see what you guys can come up with now!

Happy printing, and get those printers warmed up (it'll help with the heating bill :)

Technically. in Hawaii and many other parts of the world, a beach umbrella is a winter tool (for example). So what's the verdict? Can I post my 3D printed surfboard mount (for example; I call dibs on it just in case) for my "wintertime" beach activities?

Also, to those of you in cold weather areas: :P

A 'winter' tool here might be a weed whacker so I'll see what I can do :)

As we look outside at the shop today and think "hey, it's 45 outside, this feels warm!" we are contemplating allowing your cruel winter tools :D But in all fairness, if it's somethign you use during the 'winter' whatever that may be for you, it counts! So lets see em. Although, maybe 3d printed ice cube trays may be another option for you guys and gals in warmer climates

People keep talking about this thing called "snow." Something about having to shovel it a lot. What is that even?

Warmers can easily be put in pockets, gloves, and boots, but how do we keep our core nice and toasty?

SNOW HEAT!

Just place a small to large sized Hot Hands warmer in the basket, attach a lanyard, and hang it around your neck. Adjust the lanyard so the warmer sits inside your coat at just the right spot to keep you warm.

BONUS! Slick graphics on the front make SNOW HEAT a great holiday gift. Give an original - give SNOW HEAT!

Printing instructions and download files are on Thingiverse http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:569035

Stay toasty my friends :)

ALRIGHTY

lets see... I'm probably no going to order my MAX until Friday 11/28, and it probably wont be shipped until Monday 12/1 or so, not counting the shipping time between Indiana and Michigan, the 20+ hours of assembly and half a day of calibration... AND, this is my first build, and first ever exposure to 3D Printing...

So the deadline to have finished parts by Sunday 11/30 should not be a problem! Oh yeah, what year is that deadline in?

So here is my Doo-thing-a-ma-widget-whatsit-hickey that can be used in winter.

UPDATE - I purchased my MAXX and it should be sent out today or Friday. So that means I should receive it Monday at the earliest and Wednesday-ish at the latest. Now all I have to do is finish up the design of my 3D Printed Time Machine...

Do I get extra credit for misplaced ambition and a never say die attitude? 8-)

My idea of a good winter tool would be an airline ticket printer to somewhere warm...

So if no one else entered, does that mean I win first, second and third?

So it's been 5 days and no word on this contest from anyone. I guess this means I created SNOW HEAT for nothing. I live in Texas so I don't even really need to use it.

Yeah, what is the status of this contest?
I'm not even in it but am interested in the results.

I have something I want to have for the holiday season. I know its "too late" technically to submit for this month, but since there is only one submission so far, I plan to print this tonight: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:42090/#files" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Its a CC Share Alike license. No Non-Commercial license.

Fun for college students too :D I showed it to my sister and her boyfriend and they both want one.

I'd use it as soon as it got done, if only we had snow :/

Even in Ohio we don't have snow on the ground which is unusual for NE Ohio.
I didn't think of college but if the snow scooter is heavy duty enough, it could be a blast!
