Delta tower layout

Post by KAS »

I just notice that my X/Y/Z display layout of the model is backwards when the item actually prints. I tried messing with the options but I can't seem to get the actual layout to match the display layout.

Am I missing something here?

Are you using Simplify3D? I have to have the option "Flip build table axis" checked for the Y axis, to have the prints oriented properly in the display.

Thank you, I figured it was something easy. Every time I made a change, it never lined up the way I was expecting.

I'll give it a try after this print.

It was already set to Flip on Y. I think it's the way I have the bed rotated to match the angles of the actual towers. The model is where I want it, red circle is where it just printed.

Oh, I see. The orientation of our beds is as follows:

The green line (Y axis) points to the Z tower, (Positive Y values go in that direction).

The red line points 90 degrees from the Z tower, pointing "right" if you are looking at the printer straight on from the front.

The blue line points to the sky, Blue for sky, makes enough sense.

So, it's not as you think with the orientation. Your model is placed about 100mm to the right.

That makes sense compared to what I was trying to do.. I guess i was just accustom to moving the orientation and never paid attention to how it actually printed.

This is the first time that I want to orient the model a specific way, and it was giving me all kinds of hell trying to get it sorted out.

Glad you got it sorted. That print looks sweet. Is it a model of yours?
