7/16 hex?

Post by Ozy »

On the tools list, it says we need a 7/16” Allen (hex) wrench. Page 81, shows "Install two #6-32 Nylon lock nuts on the back and tighten them down using a 7/16 hex wrench and a 5/16” wrench."

Are we really using a 7/16 hex (allen) wrench? That is HUGE! We had to hunt for one and I just don't see where on the printer this is used. Is this a typo?

I noticed that too. I was thinking of buying a nice set of ball-end t-handled wrenches in place of my old keychain of L shaped hex wrenches.

However, when shopping I found that all the sets only go up to 3/8" max. I was going to hold off until I found one that include 7/16", but if it's not needed...

I just ordered these

http://www.allenhex.com/t-handles/allen ... e-set.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think I got in before they went out of stock but I haven't received a shipping confirmation yet.

Also... they only go up to 3/8"

Ha. I thought I was getting a good deal compared to regular tool sets, I should have shopped around more.

A lot of reviews on there say they're cheap and the handles break. Hopefully they're just over-tightening or something similar.

Mine comes on Friday so I have no idea but.. doing a CTRL+F on Gene's manual only results with one "7/16" that is a hex head, the one in the list.

sounds like a typo.
maybe it is a 7/16" open end wrench NOT allen wrench.
I think a 7/16" open end wrench fits the eccentric adjuster for the wheels.

I'm 99% sure that's a typo; I'm about halfway through the build and there's nothing in sight that could fit an allen wrench that size. I'll report it in the assembly manual thread.

Yeah, it's a typo. The "Allen" part shouldn't be included. :)

[edit]
I just searched the manual and neither instance of "7/16" has "allen" or "hex" anywhere near it.

Where was it seen? What version of the manual?
[edit2]
nevermind, I'm an idiot. I'll get it fixed soon.

tnx.
