Max v2 hot end problem & upgrade

So I've had this machine since 2015 and its given me lots of good prints and absolutely no trouble...until the past few weeks. The hot end will not reach the required temp & stays about 5 to 8 degrees below set temp. No mater what the setting is, 195 , 200, 210 its stays at that delta below the set temp.

From reading the forums this sounds like a malfunctioning resistor heater. Is the 5.6 ohm resistance heater what I need?

If I were to replace the entire hotend would that be with the SE300?

Thanks for any advice on this.

Regards

If you want to upgrade the entire hot end and you don't want to also upgrade to the Duet controller, then the HE280 is the one you want. You'll get basic, but usable auto-calibration with the upgrade since the HE280 contains an accelerometer that is used as a Z probe.

If you want to upgrade to a Duet controller, then you'll want the SE300 hot end. It's a newer design and uses a strain gauge to act as the Z probe. With the Duet + SE300, you'll basically have a whole new printer on your hands. (You'll need the SE300 wiring whip too.)

If you just want to replace the resistors in your existing hot end, you'll need to get two of these:
