Taking revolving snapshots automatically with octoprint

Post by mkx »

Hello everyone!

I am interested in using autodesk 123D catch to scan some things and I thought why not use a HD webcam in conjunction with my 3d printer to try and do it while using octoprint? So my question is it possible to take screenshots with Octoprint and a usb webcam? I've seen timelapses and the mpjg-streamer, but nothing specifically on taking a screenshot.

As for a bit of background on my equipment I will be using, I'll probably use a Bananapi for that extra horsepower for cura slicing and higher fps on the monitoring screen. I want to use gcode to move my printer head, in conjunction with a servo rotating the camera around, taking screenshots with the camera at certain intervals.

Is this possible within octoprint? Running a python script with wringpi controlling the servo, and gcode controlling the printer head? As for the python script, if anyone can nudge me in the right direction. It would be greatly appreciated.
