Spiral fail

Post by Durandal »

So I was trying to print DonaldLindsay's Mini High G Chanter, first attempt came out alright using my usual Cura settings, but not really usable, broken surface, etc.. The second OTH.

I changed the Shell thickness from .5mm to 2mm since I'd had issues with infil breaking the surface. I think the problem was that heat was building up in the part faster than it could disapate and that caused warping which started before the first hole. After the first hole it just didn't bridge back over, it just started to spiral upwards like the flutes of a drill. Might be time to look into getting a layer fan.

This was a shame too, because for once the raft came off really easy.

Yeah this looks like it was printed way to fast. If you are printing in PLA a layer fan will fix most of the problems but you might still have to slow it down a bit.

As for the infill in some slices you can change the infill overlap so it won't go through the sides.

Hope this helps! :D
