Hotend Fail in the middle of Calibration! :(

Post by shentheory »

So I finally finished my Rostock Max V2 build over the break. Installed the firmware and started calibration.

Thermistor came loose, my hotend is toast :(

BUT. I also bought a E3D V6 when I got my kit. But have no way to mount it now because I obviously can't print a mount! :(

Has anyone with the E3D V6 gotten the "EZ Groove Adapter" that seeme sells? I'd love to hear any reviews on it, and I would love to see some pics of how it's mounted too, if you got em!

FAIL!! :(

Don't have the one from SeeMeCNC but the one from Trick Laser works with the E3D V6 and has a few pictures.

Here is my E3D v6 using the SeeMeCNC mount. It works just fine. You'll need to get some longer stand-offs and use a different layer fan shroud.

Awesome, thanks!! Can I ask how long the stand offs need to be or where I could pick some up? It'd be great to get some while I wait for the adapter to get here!! Thanks again!

The length on the ones that were posted by rpress were 1 3/8 long. Mcmaster Carr has the largest inventory of spacers.
Have you given any thought what you will use for a layer fan?

Thanks so much!! And if I'm being 100% honest, I havnt thought about the layer fan :( But that's why it's great that people like you are here to spell it out for us noobs :D

As per the manual, you print completely fanless for your first print (the peek fan shroud) and then you print the layer fan. Well I obviously already have the peek fan installed for the e3d v6, so couldnt I just print the layer fan shroud from the manual after I install the E3D v6? It looks like it is connected to the effector platform, so I shouldnt have any problems installing it even with ez groove mount right? But again, what do I know? :? What would you recommend? Is there a better shroud that would fit my needs? Thanks!!
