Lately I've been experimenting with another way to clean the Orion heated bed.
When the bed has cooled I use a razor blade in handle to scrape the bed until
most of the residue is removed. Then I use alcohol pads to clean up the rest
of the purple glue residue and then wipe it down with a Puffs Basic tissue.
I never use the alcohol pads on a hot bed.
I know that the alcohol pads contains 70 per cent alcohol and the rest is water.
After wiping it down till the surface "squeaks" I can then apply another application
of glue for the next project. It seems to work very well and I was wondering if
anyone has tried it.
It sure beats taking the glass plate off and washing it with soap and water.
Any comments:
Take care,

Experimental bed cleaning technique...
Re: Experimental bed cleaning technique...
I usually print on paper, and when the paper has to be removed, I remove the most I can by hand, then scrap the rest with a razor blade, and just glue another paper on the top of that.
I rarely remove the glass to wash under water... but I could not say never.

Re: Experimental bed cleaning technique...
That sounds like something I would like to try. Do you use plane typing paper
or some other type of paper? Do you also put glue on the paper as well?
Does the fact that your printing on paper have any effect on temperature as far
as the print adhering to the paper?
I'm printing with ABS at the moment with a bed temperature of 90 deg.
Also will this work with PLA as well?
Thanks for the info,

Re: Experimental bed cleaning technique...
It works better with PLA than ABS. For ABS, I would print on paper for a small part. For a bigger one, I would still use Acetone + ABS mixture.
The temp settings are the same, I use standard typing paper, and I glue it to the bed with UHU glue.
There is a thread on the forum about this technique.
