Heres a pic of a custom machine were building for someone. 12" cube build area, its going in a heated enclosure. Thought you guys might like to see that one.

Nice, you guys using linear bearings? What size shafts and bearings are those?

Yep, well for x and y we are using 3/8" ground and polished, and bronze oilite bushings. The Z still uses the 1/4" bars, just longer.

How did this work out? Once Ellen and I get ours working and know what we are doing we want to try to up size it as well and a 1 foot cube would be the perfect size.

The machine moves really nicely! The problem is still, you can't print that large of a mass in plastic and not get warpage. Now, printing tall stuff is fine but there's a certain footprint that it just doesn't become feasible with FDM technology. That said, it's a HUGE table, and you can print tons of small parts on that table at a time!
