Got my Rostock Max all built and up and running

Post by drandolph »

Took me about 3 nights (20hrs ish) and I'm happy but now the mod's will begin.
I have my own laser cutter, mill and other printers to go crazy with.
Let be honest off the shelf stock isn't for me. :)

Here are a couple quick test videos:

Honestly, you built it a *lot* faster than a lot of us did. Good job!

Is that a filastruder in the third picture?

Yep thats a filastruder with my own case design I made. I also got in early on the extrusion bot so I will be interested in seeing the difference of the internal design differences.

What kind of cutter are you working on? I've been looking at these and a cnc mill here lately.
Purple = sarcasm

Please do a board search before posting your question, many have been answered with very time consuming detail already.

I'm using one of the Chinese laser cutters. I've modified mine a lot but the gantry is still the same with a cut area of 12"x20" and I added a 60w tube so I could cut more.

Here is a similar model http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUTTER-CO2-LASE ... 4173ef24fd

with some modifications like a water chiller, exhaust and ps/tube upgrades you can get a really amazing machine going for under $4k
