i am looking to buy my first printer. that being said i have never printed anything before so not sure how to compare the systems other then the basic specs on the website. also their are very few reviews. any chance anyone has links to reviews or something to help me choose which i will get? the 3rd option is getting a prusa due to the simplicity but would prefer to buy the better product. also the seemecnc is american made. any opinions or suggestions?

Both printers share the same motors, hot end, and electronics.

The Artemis 300 is built a bit "beefier" than the Rostock MAX v4.

The v4 is a point in the evolution in the Rostock MAX product line and includes components from the prior generation (3.2). The v4 is an easy to build kit aimed at folks that aren't afraid of a screwdriver. ;)

The Artemis 300 uses much larger extrusion for the towers and is aimed more at the "prosumer" end of the market than the v4 is. The Artemis also has a bit of a larger print volume than the v4 does.

All of the structural plastic components in both printers are made from injection molded nylon and all the non-structural parts (spacers, etc) are also injection molded. This is going to result in a more accurate build - you're not going to be affected by the slight variation found in 3D printed parts like the Prusa is equipped with. (Don't get me wrong, the Prusa i3 is a fine machine, but it's 2019 and building a printer out of all 3D printed parts should be restricted to the low-end of the hobbyist market.)

I've got the "original" edition of the Artemis 300 that has the linear rail carriages and it's been a flawless operator. My v4 build should be complete today - come hang out on my YouTube channel while I finish the build. You can ask any questions you like! My channel is http://www.youtube.com/f15sim. (the stream will start around 8:30am on 10/5, pacific time)

Thank you very much for the in depth description. I watched the other video and it was quite informative. I'll try and catch you on YouTube but getting things ready for a wedding today.

But from your description it sounds like the main noticable difference is included dual filament, larger print area, and slight better precision.

If their was a larger price gap it would be a easier choice lol

Also wasnt as interested in the prusa for its build quality. More just because of the giant community. Tons of units tested and reviewed. Clearly the seemecnc is built and designed far better.

The forum here used to be very active, but then someone had the bright *coughs* idea to create a Facebook group, and that pretty much sucked all the air out of the room. ;)

BTW, if you want to see how NOT to finish a v4, watch the 2nd video. "Derptastic" is a pretty apt description. :D

I stopped using Facebook almost a year ago. Plus a forum is a far better resource. Haha I'll have to check out the derptastic adventure lol

It's a good machine. You'll enjoy it. Not sure where you're getting it from though. :)

As far as I know, the Artemis has been replaced by the BOSSDelta 300. You can reach out to SeeMeCNC and see what their ETA on those are. They recently moved, so may still be getting things set up.
