I try not to post crap like this, but it seems like a decent deal for anyone wanting to tinker.

That is a pretty good deal, nice! I know a lot of people who paid the "normal" price.

Looks like the $225 one might be sold out. "The seller is no longer offering vouchers." whatever that means.

Wow...
Would this be suitable for engraving mirrorglas on the backside?
And how big can you go in this machine?

thanks, I was able to snag one of the $225 ones today. What do you think of it so far?
Re: K40 Laser Amazon deal (through Vipon)
Haven't done much but did a few of the test designs in laser works. I can see the benefit of adding a amp meter and potentiometer. The digital button thingy is a bit wonky. The software has a learning curve but not that bad. I might end up using "K40 Whisperer" if the controller of this machine is compatible.unnerv wrote:thanks, I was able to snag one of the $225 ones today. What do you think of it so far?
It fires, but I really feel the need to rewire everything for a tad more confidence in the electrical. It wouldn't test fire at first until I wiggled a few wires on the controller. But for 225 bucks, It's worth the experience if lasering is something you want to tinker with.
As for the size, I'm not sure of the true capability yet. I think the current working area is around 200 x 360mm. Trimming the exhaust fan shroud can add a bit more.
I've told myself, that I'm not going to go mod crazy on this K40. It's just being used to learn the basics and determine if it's something I'll use frequently.

Thanks for the quick write up, I got mine last night and unpacked it today. All the wiring looked pretty good, although they hot glued over the connections, I guess to make sure it stayed connected. Looking at mine, the Y gantry looks to be out of square. I am going to take it appart tomorrow to make sure the belt didn't slip on one side, then I'll power it up and see if it will test fire and align ok.
