Firmware changes for dual extrusion

Post by Michi86 »

Hey there,
could anybody help me with the add a struder kit?
I have the normal Rostock MAX with the firmware from https://github.com/seemecnc/RepetierMAX ... master.zip
Which changes and where i have to do in the firmware of the repetier host to get it to work with the normal connection like it was displayed to the following picture?
Rambo-conn-all.jpg
ah and where do i find the numbers of the pins of the rambo board to set it in the firmware?
Thanks in advance!

Sunny regards from germany :-)

Howdy,

Firstly this is something I'm interested into and haven't actually done it yet, so I could be telling you absolute garbage.

But on the board you are interested in EXT0 and EXT1, your existing hotend will be connect to one of these, and then you have E0 and E1 for your extruder motors, again you will have one already plugged in. I'm pretty sure the first hotend and motor go to EXT0 and E0. Oh and TX for the thermistors, probably T2... again there will be a setting in Configuration.h to say which one.

If you are using the current Repetier firmware, I think these are already set. But you will find it in Configuration.h

How do you plan to connect both hotends to the arms? Unless I'm wrong the plate (Hot End Adapter) that comes with the Rostock kit doesn't fit two. I found one on tricklaser.com that supports two hotends, with a 25mm separation, I'm assuming there must be a variable in Configuration.h where this value is important... haven't looked yet.

Hopefully this will help you get started and that I haven't led you astray.

Hey September,
thanks for the quick response, yes thats correct.
The routing should be as follows:

First Extruder:
HotEnd: Extruder Heat 0
Extruder: E0
Thermistor: T0

Second Extruder:
HotEnd: Extruder Heat 1
Extruder: E1
Thermistor: T1

Bed:
Heater: Heated Bed
Thermistor: T2

Yes i bought the Hot End Adapter from tricklaser, it's a bit tight to attach the Hot Ends but it worked :D
