Is there a better alternative to the belts that come with the MAX? I've now gone thru 3 belts on mine. The first two were probably my fault by overtightening them. But this last one is definitely not that, if anything it's on the loose side. Now a section of my Z axis belt is completely missing teeth.
I had a print I was trying to make that shifted the print to the side about a 1mm at the same spot two times in a row. Since I can't expect a good print I'm going to inspect the drive gear. And take the top off and see how it matches up with the bottom and realign the towers. Even though it's been printing good lately.
EDIT: Oh I also want to say it's never been crashed, incase you were thinking that.

are those belts better than the included belts in the kit?

They are pretty much identical.cambo3d wrote:are those belts better than the included belts in the kit?
Part of the issue is that GT2 belts have such a shallow tooth profile.
With such long belt runs, it doesn't take very much for the pulley to skip and shred the belt.

Re: Better source for belts?
i notice some had steel reinforcement instead of fiberglass

Re: Better source for belts?
In this case you don't want steel reinforced, they have a minimum bend radius, and it's likely greater than the radius of the 15 tooth pulley. It's not the fiberglass reinforcement that's breaking on mine, it's the teeth getting ground off.cambo3d wrote:i notice some had steel reinforcement instead of fiberglass
I've never seen a GT2 x 6mm belt with steel reinforcement anyway.

Re: Better source for belts?
I did read that some people had a problem with sharp teeth on the drive gear. That could damage the belt over time also.

But I think you'd see that distributed over the usual working area, all the failures I've seen are localized.MorbidSlowBurn wrote:I did read that some people had a problem with sharp teeth on the drive gear. That could damage the belt over time also.

I posted the damage of mine over in this thread, http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1537
I ordered enough for four belts from SPI. About $10 more for four sets than 3 sets at SeeMe.
I'm kinda thinking maybe some of the reinforcement stretched/broke then tore up the teeth.
