I originaly designed the top plate of the Rostock MAX to allow for top mounted extruders and filament spools. That's why there are holes and notches up there. After I finished design and tooling of the EZStruder, I prototyped this idea just before leaving for the 2013 Bay Area Maker Faire.
I designed the EZStruder mount and filament holder to allow for mounting three units up top. The filament spool arm will hold the small Taulman spools just as well as the larger 2 pound (1kg) spools.
