You think it would work to isolate the extruder too Lee?

Not sure how you mean to use it.
It can be used as a gasket. This stuff is basically like a sheet of cotton, but much denser. Feels pretty heavy for what it is.

I mean wrapping it around the extruder barrel to minimize the heat radiation and keep the temperature stabile.

Oh it would definitely hold the heat in, but most guys need to actually cool that part to keep the heat from getting to the extruder mounting carriage.
If you are having trouble keeping it up to temp, then this might work.

Lee, I would be interested in a bit of that stuff, I haven't decided how I 'm going to mount my Phebe yet but some insulation seems like a good idea.

Let me know the particulars (price, shipping...) when you get a chance.

Thanks

Shipping to Denmark will cost more with Flat rate.
I will check into the shipping costs.
Off topic, BTW my first wife and I got married in Odensee. Beautiful place. Beautiful wife. Just trying to remember the good times. :)
You will wind up paying mostly for shipping. Not trying to profit, but make a little cash back.
A not to H1 guys, offer a piece of this material with your circuit board.
It will eleviate lots of future issues that are heat bed related.

Just send as letter. That is much cheaper. Yeh Denmark is beautiful. On the downside we got cold and rainy weather and world record in tax :|

Anything over 3/4" thick cannot be classified as a letter. It must be a package.
I can send cheaper, but will need to research that some.

Right, but several feet of this will not fit in a small flat rate box.
Medium would be the standard for more than a foot or two. I can also ship parcel post. It will take longer, but be cheaper.

You can have 6 layers of the sheet x 8-5/8" x 5-3/8" without compressing it and I guess you can compress it a bit? How wide is the role?

It's 2 foot wide.
It will compress some. I will check and see how much of it I can stuff in a small box.

Hey Lee, I scrutinized McMaster's website for insulation materials back in March and bought several to try but did not see that one in 1/4" thickness! I wonder if that is a new addition or if I just overlooked it. I am going to pick up a roll of the 8 lb/cu in material with a lower heat flow. I can use it in some other applications I have too.

I used a reflective insulation board on my original hot bed. Even with 1/8" standoffs above that my acrylic table warped. I ended up making a new aluminum sub table. That solved the warping problem but I still lose a lot of heat out the bottom. This insulation should fix that.

cheers,
Michael

I had a lot of warping as well. Even with phenolic table until I installed this insulation. It may be new, but I bought this a couple months ago.

You guys at H1 may want to get a roll of this and ship the correct size along with the circuit boards. You would get quite a few of these from one roll.

on a side note , the 7"x7" Borosilicate Glass that Mcmaster-Carr offers fits perfectly between the screw holes on the heat board front to back . The only problem is the glass was $17 and with shipping and everything came out to $24 .. But I love it and fits great !.

Okay, guys.
I have several of these packed up. 1 square foot per small flat rate box.
I can ship more than 1 foot if you need, but will need to figure out the cost according to where you live.
I am looking into the cheapest way to send this to Denmark as well.
I'll holler back when I know.
Just shoot me an email if interested.

I can ship a one square foot in the US for $8.00. in a small flat rate box, or enough for 3 beds, which is a little over 7" by 24" long for $15.00. The later would ship Priority mail as well, but not a flat rate box.

Same price would apply to Denmark for 3 bed size, but would be shipped First Class Parcel Post.
