Holy sh!t!
I can imagine it is rather creepy to see your own deathface like that! ;-)
Impressive resolution!

Interesting custom built also...
The direction of the arms is skew to the position of the front towers...?

I'm impressed with the print, more impressed with the scan. How did you get such an accurate model?

Thanks everyone.

I thought I had print info in the album but here goes:

80 micron layer height, filaments.ca PLA at "210" through an e3d v6 400 micron nozzle, slow speed 50mm/s and insanely low jerk of 480mm/min. 3 perimeters, no infill, some top and bottom layers close to the perimeter thickness. Slides with simplify3d. Oh yeah, 94 hour print time!!!!

The slicing took ages. Writing the 1gb gcode file after slicing tool even longer. I needed to buy a crazy gaming pc with 64gb ram to slice this haha.

The model was made by a professional scanning company, using photogrammetry. They have a crazy truck full of like 100 cameras. I believe they extract the pore data from the images and bake it into the model manually. Something like 20 million polygons. It's not me, it's my brother.

I can't see what you mean. I did adjust the bed to be more try to the towers, if that's what you mean? I'm sure the geometry isn't perfect either. Or possibly the photo is icing a weird angle.

The attachment is a snippet of a picture from your Imgur pages. I can see clearly that the sides of the tower are square to the front and not rotated 60 degrees to point to the center of the printbed. However I took a closer look at your Z tower and now noticed that you are using linear rails and there are no cheapskates running up and down the extrusions. But even then I think it is a hell of a calibration job to get the rotation of the linear rail tuned, isn't it? But clearly done with great succes! ;-)

Ah, I see what you mean. I used these http://us.misumi-ec.com/vona2/detail/11 ... 733%3A%3Ag three of each for a tower, and so in the middle on the front face is another normal extrusion that the rail is bolted to. It works okay, but it's not an absolutely ideal solution. I have other ideas for if I make another one, basically tying the three separate columns together. I have an album of the printer build here: https://imgur.com/a/2A1fF the first pic shows the angle extrusion. The middle one, with the rail attached, is shorter than the other two -- something I wouldn't repeat a second time.
