Nice job, good to see some more cyclops prints.

The volcano seems like a great fit with your machine. What kind of mm^3/s are you getting out of it?

Seems like the actual velocity of the head hasn't changed much. But if u take pla for example and increase the nozzle temp to 250, I am easily able to extrude heights up to. 8mm at 30 mm speed with the 1.2mm nozzle. Which would be 4 to 8 times faster prints. I hooked it up and started printing with minor changes in s3d so since further optimization is still require.

So 0.8mm * 1.2mm * 30mm/s = 28.8 mm^3/s which is great! I can get maximum maybe 13mm^3/s from my v6.

I'm building a new printer and it's going to get the Volcano, I'm excited to try it out!

I've been thinking about the layer fan for the volcano and PLA. With that kind of flow some serious fan action will be needed. Any thoughts?

Right now I've got an idea of an external squirrel fan (like this) with CPAP hose and some kind of nozzle...

well i think any fan is better then no fan, and two fans are probably better then one.

Awesome work! I found this via your post about using BB with Linux CNC as the controller.

The end stop adjusters are very cool.
- CNC's: Rostock Max upgraded to v3.2, Prusa i3 MK3 MMU, Formlabs Form SLA, Shapeoko3 CNC, Palette+, Palette 2 Pro
- Software: Fusion 360, SpaceClaim Engineer, Simplify3D, Repetier Firmware & Host, VCarve Pro

yea it was pretty ambitious to try those threaded style end stops... that being said they did not work as well as i hoped so i went with a lever/screw combo

I have purchased the BBB and CRAMPS board and I'm currently waiting for the step sticks to arrive (that will take up to a month unfortunately). My Rambo blew a channel on me. I want to upgrade to more power and more modularity with this setup. I would really appreciate some guidance from you on what I need to do. Can you point me in the right direction as far as specifics on what to do to get the correct stuff installed on this thing to make my Rostock Max run again? Any links or information you are willing to impart to me would be immensely appreciated. I am new to Linux, but I will learn it to make this work. What I really need are the specifics to set up Machinekit for use with a delta printer.

Have you used the Lines to Arcs command line program on any of your prints? http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?LinesToArcs If so, did you find that it worked pretty well?

Thanks,
Gr8Scott

I have machinekit and LinuxCNC installed and running. Step Sticks are here and I am standing at the threshold of starting to hook the power, stepper motors and sensors to this bad boy and start calibrating the software to the machine. Very exciting stuff!!

I have not used the lines to arc converter, if you find out that your file size is too big for axis try some other displays.

My build is similar to yours in many aspects, and it sounds like we want to do many similar things with it.

I have a couple of questions that I've been struggling with. First, how did you spec what size magnets to use for the mag arms? Is there a tool available for calculating the forces in the joints and arms to help with this, or did you have to just guestimate? Secondly, how did you go about aligning such a large frame?
Nice work!

I looked the google forum, but couldn't see if your machine got to work ... did you already finish it?

Cheers!

@Bubbasnow, this super big ass printer is plainly AWESOME!

How much do you say that you expend on this beauty? rough estimate, of course.

I want to build as big as yours, but before embarking I would like to know costs :-)

Thanks!
