Installing LCD wiring on RAMBO board

Post by slausonm »

I purchased the LCD display and recieved it yesterday. The installation instructions online are for what I assume is an older iteration of the display. Since the one I just recieved has no connectors that look like the connectors on the Rambo board, could someone please post pictures or a clear explanation of how to install the new LCD with "smart adapter" to the Rambo motherboard on my Rostock Max machine?

Thanks, Matt

Have you seen this: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=1068

There is also: http://www.reprap.org/wiki/RamboLCD

My LCD Interfaces look identical to this one. I have them on RAMPS now but will use one on my RAMBo when my Max arrives.

cheers,
Michael

Yes, I've seen both. The board shipped with an additional connector/board that plugs into the Two cables, but in no way can plug into the Rambo board. I am new to this and have never seen the ramps board but maybe that is it. I don't want to do surgery on the cables without knowing where the wires go. A clear picture of the board I purchased connected in the correct way would be helpful. In other words, the installation instructions online and my product don't match.
Thanks,Matt

Can you post a quick photo of this additional connector board please. I suspect that is the adapter for the RAMPS 1.4 board, not RAMBo. A RAMBo adapter does not exist yet but likely will. Until then, we have to make our own.

Photos of the back of your display board would be helpful too.

thanks

The adapter IS for the RAMPS, not the RAMBo.

OK, thank you for clearing up the adaptor issue. Yes, I read the install data that is out there. My confusion lyes with the cable. Please could someone post a chart/picture/Description that says something to the affect of: Wire 1 on cable A gets connected to pin 1 on the SPI socket. To me it is un clear in the given description. Yes I see the socket picture in the PDF but AFAIK there is not a detailed description as to what wire goes where.

Quite honestly, when I saw that the board was now available for the RowstockMax machine and that there was one installed on the new machine on their site, I WRONGFULLY assumed that installation instructions would come with the kit. I would have not wasted my money had I known that I had to mod the cable.
Thank you for your help.

It looks like my wish has come true, I think I will wait a bit until the bugs have worked themselves out. I will try to build the cable connection when my mind can focus on not letting the magic smoke out of the electronics.

Thanks again!

Check the Official Docs thread - I've posted the LCD assembly guide there. VERY clear and easy to use.
