Rostock V4 - SE300 - Barrel fan not working.

I have a V4 and V3.2

The V4 is less than a month old. Just ran into a problem in that the filament would stick in the barrel after a few MM of feed. Nearly impossible to pull out. So, it appears the filament is melting in the barrel. So, I discovered the barrel fan wasn't spinning.

So, suggestions other than simply testing the fan?

Make sure the fan body isn't compressed against the fan blades.

The fan freely rotates by finger.
I pulled and connected to a 12v supply and confirm that the fan works.

Will re-assemble when I get home to see if that was enough. Assuming the fan will not spin at that point though.

I have confirmed that the purple wire is correctly connected to the Duet and is pin 1 on the 10pin connector.
I confirmed there is continuity with a meter.
I confirmed the 10pin socket (pin1) has continuity to the fan socket and that the other pin of the fan socket goes to ground.

I have uploaded several pictures to imgur at the following link.

Also, there is no bad solder joints or burn marks on the head.

It appears the only thing left is the Duet board.

Have you contacted support about this yet? If not, you need to.

Also, the cold-section fan will only be running when the hot end temperature is > 60C or so. You should also check the fan output with a multi-meter after the hot end is at temperature.

After my initial post and realizing it wasn't a simple problem, I put in a trouble ticket, but decided to continue with this thread so that others may follow to resolution in case they run into the same issue at some point in the future.

They responded with performing the initial diags that I explained in my third post in the thread, and am waiting on a response now.

You are close regarding the temperature and I took that into consideration.
Note: M106 P2 T50 S0.7 H1 ; Heat sink fan
It is 50c when it should kick in to prevent the heat soak I am getting. It doesn't.

Basically, it appears that TR1 (transistor for the fan) may be bad on the Duet. If I plug in the fan to the next port (always on), it works.

I added photos to the original Imgur.com link to show the top and bottom of the circuit board to show that nothing is visibly burned. Didn't let the smoke out - at least it passes the smell/visual test.

Also note.... It worked correctly for about a week and magically stopped working. I still believe the Duet board simply went bad.

Turns out the Duet Board was bad. Replaced under warranty... All good now.
