Deltacon, that was my original problem back when I first built this printer. Had to call Seemecnc to get the correct motor current setting and have since then not had any problems with the motor getting screaming hot.

I have adjused the retraction setting as Xenocrates said and so far have produced two flawless prints. Trying the same model again but with 5 copies instead of one at a time to see if the longer print time causes the problem to come back.

If you use this link https://www.ustream.tv/broadcaster/20572527" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; you can see it working. I have my better camera running tonight for this print.

The retraction speed of 110mm/s is very high. That may be enough to strip a 'groove' out of the filament, after which point the teeth can't grip any more.

I run 40mm/s retraction, with a length of 5mm on my e3d lite 6

Check the extruder temp again to be safe - if you can't hold your hand on it, it's too hot IMO.

Ok, so the long print from last night finished without any problem. Not going to say the new setting are the fix yet. I want to run so more test models with different infill and shapes. But it is looking good so far.

Have you tried using the customer service chat function at https://seemecnc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
look in the lower right corner of the page to activate it

You need to throw teamviewer on your pc so you can remote in and stop the print. It's free for personal use, you'll just get a "Brought to you by TeamViewer" pop up when you disconnect, no biggie. They even have clients for android and I believe iOS, so you can hit it from your phone.

Ok guys, new question on this problem. I have been feeding 100mms of filament through the hot end and what I have noticed is that it slows down and speeds up during the 100mm test. What could be causing this?

Very odd ...

I would have to say faulty stepper / controller or interference somewhere.

The amount of torque the steppers put out far outweighs the amount of friction, so there's no way it would slow down, other stuff would break first (filament would slip etc)

OK, want to talk about frustrating. Got a hold of SeeMeCnC today via the live chat. Got the printer printing and would it fail? NO! Started another print for him and that print is still going strong. Guess I will be chasing my tale for a while till this problem decides to come back... :P

So essentially you have to keep the SeeMe Chat opened during print... ;-)

Re: Extrusion fails

Post by Gundy1024 »

So a new clue in the on going troubleshooting has come to light for me. Not sure why I did not notice this earlier but the problem of the extrusion jamming seems to be happening between prints. If I start a print with a fresh cut filament the print works fine. Once the hot end cools off and I try again this is when the clogging/jamming happens. If I pull the filament out and start with a fresh cut every time it has been working fine. Anyone have an idea why this is and how to fix it? Could it be a bad end on the Bowden tube in the hot end?

Thanks as always for you input.

Does your peek fan shutdown before the hotend gets below 50 degrees?
The standard firmware from SeemeCNC is setup to keep the peekfan running intil it droppes below 50 degrees C.
Therefore you must also not power off your machine until the fan stops on it's own.

I am running an E3D print head. The cooling fan for it runs at all times.
