eeprom error in firmware update
eeprom error in firmware update
I have a max v1. I am trying to update the firmware since i have been having problems with lost steps and overheating of the y tower motor.
However when i try to upload the latest firmware from the download page I get an error saying there is a problem with eeprom.cpp.
I will update the exact syntax when i get into the office.
I feel like my step problems have to do with checking then endstops and possibly voltage problems of my replacement y stepper.
However, i wanted to make sure that I had the latest firmware when i tested those guesses.
(edited:)
this is the error inc. syntax
Eeprom.cpp:1:22: fatal error: Eeprom.cpp: No such file or directory
I can see the file very clearly

Re: eeprom error in firmware update
You get the error while compiling, or when loading?

Re: eeprom error in firmware update
Hi Behold. Are you downloading from SeeMeCNC or the Repetier pages? What version are you using? Maybe post the link so someone can reproduce your problem?
What OS and version are you using? What version of the Arduino IDE do you have?

Re: eeprom error in firmware update
you are correct, I gave you absolutely no info. My apologies...
I downloaded from the SeemeCNC pages. https://github.com/seemecnc/Repetier-091-ROSTOCKMAX
It looks like version Version 0.91
using windows 8.1
using arduino ide 1.6.3

Re: eeprom error in firmware update
I just tried downloading fresh copies of arduino (1.6.5) and the seemecnc github repetier 0.91 project, last updated August 7.
It compiled for me on windows 7. Could you try checking your board settings in arduino under Tools-Board>? The target should be the Arduino Mega 2560.

Re: eeprom error in firmware update
Did you clear the firmware first?
Try with Arduino IDE 1.0.5, I remember having problems with the latest version.

Re: eeprom error in firmware update
I downloaded a fresh copy of arduino, my tools>board settings are Arduino/ Genuino Mega or Mega 2560.
The fresh copy of arduino made the EEprom warning go away but now I am getting an avrude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): Timeout
I changed the usb cord. It still gives the same results.
I can see communication though.

Re: eeprom error in firmware update
AVRdude is a usb>serial logic programmer that you probably have a driver installed for from other arduino programmers and things like that. My USBAsp uses AVRdude, for example. Perhaps your computer is using the wrong program/driver for the USB connection to your Rambo?
Anyway, did you install the latest Rambo driver from the website? That's my guess of what to try next.

It makes me laugh, too
You tried multiple USB ports?

Is it possible to screw up my bootloader somehow? I was able to upload firmware before without incident. Multiple times in fact

It is possible for the bootloader to get corrupted. Has this problem been resolved?Behold wrote:Is it possible to screw up my bootloader somehow? I was able to upload firmware before without incident. Multiple times in fact
Re: eeprom error in firmware update
No, support suggested a replacement of the rambo

The manufacturer (Ultimachine) will repair the Rambo board for a small fee.Behold wrote:No, support suggested a replacement of the rambo
It is also possible to buy a programmer to reload the bootloader. It you do not
know how to do this it is probably better to send the Rambo back to Ultimachine for repair.
