Rostock Max V1 Moving Extruder to top like v2, v3

Post by DLS3141 »

I have a Rostock Max V1 with the extruder and filament roll hanging off the back of the machine's base. I have upgraded to the EZ-Struder, but I'd now like to move everything to the top of the machine and run the extruder in through the top as is done on the V2, V3. There's nothing wrong with the current setup, but I plan to build an enclosureand having the extruder on the side complicates things. Has anyone done such a modification? Any recommendations for doing so?

Thanks.

This is probably woefully late, but I couldn't ever get the EZ-Struder to drive the filament reliably so I swapped out the NEMA 17 with a NEMA 23 and modded one of these:

If it starts to strip now, I know that there is something going on at the hotend.

Otherwise, you are looking for the straightest shot to the hotend, and be sure to avoid the arms. That's about it.
