A highly customised Rostock MAX build

Post by Viking »

After quite few experiments on my rostock MAX v2, resulting in a pile of expensive very high end parts. I desided to keep my very well working Rostock MAXv2 tobe almost "stock", I also need to have an working printer.

So I will be buliding av higly customissed Rostock MAX based on the following parts:

tricklaser metall frame
Dauderdruckeraluplatte
500w AC heatbed heater / alternative I use a Onyx at 24v. time will show what I end up with
E3D v6 hotend
DUET 0.8.5 and duepanel
injected molded cheapskates and ballcup arm setup, it's stable enough for this.
0.9degrees steppers

I have not desided on the extruder drive unit yet

I intend to use this setup to experiment with temparture and materials, and just because I like to build 3d printers and other stuff.

If you're going for a really excellent precise extruder, the Bondtech QR seems to be very popular, and very good.
Machines:
Rostock Max V2, Duet .8.5, PT100 enabled E3D V6 and volcano, Raymond style enclosure
Automation Technology 60W laser cutter/engraver

I hate waiting. Especially if you have a tracking number!

While I'm waiting for the MAXmetall frame, I have been busy reading on this forum. There are a lot of usefull tips.

This build will be running on 24v
I will use 0.9 degree/step steppers
Bondtech extruder in the mail
I will also use quite a few parts from SeeMeCNC.

I have an 24v 31A PSU for this one...

Any other things to take into consideration ?

TrickLaser now sells a laser cut "bottom" for support of the heat bed if you are interested.

Yep, Brian was showing it to me a couple of days before MRRF. Looks like a great way to mount your power supply and heated bed. They're very well thought out. I'll vouch for anything that Brian makes. I think I'm particular about design and quality, but he puts me to shame with the Trick Laser parts :)

I don't think that he has posted them on his site yet, Brian can you verify this and
let us know when you are going to put them up for sale?

Kas, you may have to shoot Brian an email just in case he does not read this.
