Well, I should have looked at the extruder a little more closely before I ordered a damper for it... Anyway, I cut a couple strips of neoprene from a mouse pad and put it on both sides of the extruder mount. Seems to have helped the whine from that extruder! This is the only mod I've done, probably should bore out the holes a bit more so the bolts don't touch, but I can't fit my drill in there, and didn't feel like removing the whole thing. Tightened it down enough to not wiggle too much, but not too tight!

Re: Extruder damper
A unique damper for the extruder but if it helps then it is good!
Re: Extruder damper
I just got my v2 up and running today. I have Astrosyn dampers on the tower stepper motors, but nothing on the extruder.
I am not getting a while from the extruder, but a sort of low growling vibration is being transmitted up to, and resonating in, the top section. I would like to quiet it down. Perhaps another Astrosyn, if the vibration is coming from the motor... But it might be coming from the ezstruder itself. Your neoprene dampers would be one way to keep vibrations from traveling up the extruder mount.

Re: Extruder damper
The problem is you can't use an Astrosyn damper on the extruder, at least not without making a metal plate to go between the plastic parts, and the damper. After damping the xyz motors, the extruder was the loudest thing. I need to make a plate to go on the back side by the nuts though. The washers let it wiggle too much.AlanZ wrote:I just got my v2 up and running today. I have Astrosyn dampers on the tower stepper motors, but nothing on the extruder.
