For the last few weeks I've been Beta testing Trick Laser's new "Trick Trucks"!

They're an all aluminum carriage for the Rostock Max. Each carriage is 48% lighter than the original, so you save 240g of moving weight after upgrading all 3. (V2 carriages were used for the comparison, V1 cheapskates are considerably heavier).

They use the dual-bearing Open Builds V Wheels ( http://openbuildspartstore.com/openbuil ... wheel-kit/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) with 30mm axles, Open Builds eccentric adjusters, they reuse your existing arm mount and hardware, and use a new style belt clamp that I designed specifically for this application ( http://repables.com/r/424/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ).

They're as smooth as glass, I like the weight savings, and I really like having a single eccentric nut to adjust the rolling tension. I'm quite happy with them. Here is the full album of my pictures ( http://imgur.com/a/1CroL" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )

Coming soon to a Trick Laser website near you!

Yeah those look very nice. They could save some room for an enclosure to be a smaller profile.

Those are really cool!
If Trick Laser can produce these in enough quantity to meet the initial demand they will be a great seller.
I do hope to see them soon on the Trick Laser site.

They look sweet and I like the design. But how do you adjust the fit of the wheels to the extrusion? Or is it being done with tolerances?

The eccentrics that I mentioned. Here's the link:

Missed the text between the images. Those images are huge (takes up more then the screen) and I think half the image is being cut off to the right also.

YES! Sign me up. I was thinking of doing something like this on my own (and replacing my t-slot with actual V-slot from openbuilds).

How do the solid wheels work in the standard t-slot?

They are VERY smooth. Before I connected the belts, it felt very good moving the arms around and feeling everything glide.
I don't think there's a reson to move to v-slots. If it's not broken, don't fix it. (says the guy with less than 50% up time from all the mods)

Any idea on when they will be available? Think there is any other room for more testers (my printer has very little downtime and runs between 10-12 hours a day for the past few weeks)?

Do these change the delta geometry at all? They look like they would make the carriage axles loser to the extrusions?

My horizontal radius needed to be increased by 4.05mm.

Dude, I got to view way out to see the entire image. I've seen this on other threads here also by other people. I'm working on 19" monitors, so that's not the problem. Is this a php problem?

Liking the new belt holder design.

That is way cool! How do you attach those carriages to the belt?

BTW anyone on Firefox can right-click and "View Image" if the pics are cut off like mine were.

Bone, it looks like you're navigating the mobile web page... Weird.

Ben, the little blue tabs are the belt clamps. They friction fit on the bottom of the arm mount and squeeze the belt between it and the aluminum when you tighten the arm mount screws.

Don't use the mobile theme. Click the button that says "switch to full style."

We are lucky to get our members to post videos and images at all, and we surely did not want to ask each poster of images to crop them three different ways before posting.
90+ percent of our user base can open the images without problems. Smart phones and other small displays could have the problem of viewing the files.
So whose problem is it? The 90% of the users who have no problems, the uploader of the images, or the 10% that have a problem viewing the images?
If I would have a problem viewing the images I would see if the browser could display it differently, I would download the image and work at converting to something that I
could use. I would NOT ask the poster to resubmit the images cropped and formatted so that I could use them.

Jimustanguitar, could you ask Brian if he has a tentative release date for these Lightweight Aluminum Carriages?

Or Brian, if you are reading this could you answer the question?

I am fully aware. I was only joking hence the smilies.

And in my defense, as I tried it with several different browsers all with standard settings, I was under the impression that it was some php setting which renders the problem common to all users. Consequently in my mind I was doing a community service. I would also be annoyed if some random noob dickhead came and started to pollute posts with irrelevant requests. I might have handled it a bit more politically but that is just me.

Would you mind elaborating a bit on the blue elastic band with hooks?
Is that a permanent installation in place as some sort of counterweight or a temporary installation?

Hey all,
Thanks for your interest in the "Trick Trucks" the design is similar to the 3 wheel dual bearing trucks I designed for the NEMESIS Air Delta printer project. ( http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... it=NEMESIS" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) They work so incredibly well I wanted some for my MAX & Orion and thought others may also.
I am planning on having them available to ship the 2nd week of November.

I just put them up on our website http://www.tricklaser.com/Trick-Trucks- ... TRUCKS.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you Pre-order you will save $10.00

So the Ezstruder is suspended with bungees hovering over the hot end? Am I interpreting the images correctly that it also descents with the carriages. Does it not add some weight to the carriages? Or is it supported in the vertical axis?
