Titan Aero mounting bracket

Hello guys! It's been a while since my last post here. I've recently bought a Titan Aero and made a mount for the Rostock Max.
It doesn't matter if you have the V1, V2 or the V3, it's for the ball-cup effector platform.

I tried hard to make it fit above the effector, but no matter what, something would end up hitting the arms. A possible solution was to offset the center of the extruder from the effector, but it didn't felt right. So below it was the way to go.

Two models were uploaded to Thingiverse. One is meant to be used with a Panasonic 5v laptop fan (thanks KAS http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?t=8699) and the other one with seemecnc's 30mm blower fan (https://www.seemecnc.com/products/30mm- ... blower-fan). They were named Slim Jim and Big Bertha respectively

I've just mounted it, but still haven't printed a thing. Some values still need to be changed:
* Thermistor number
* Set the motor amps
* Run PID tuning
* I guess that: max jerk, travel acceleration and acceleration will need to be tweaked and there... I'm lost! HELP PLEASE.

My old effector ----> 145g
Titan Aero ----> 362g

It's not very heavy, but it's a lot more mass moving arround.

It prints!
Looks good at 60mm/s print speed 200mm/s travel
25mm/s retract speed
0.5mm retraction distance

Just in case someone is going to install one of this extruders, this parameters were changed:

1) If you get the Slimline stepper from E3D:
#define MOTOR_CURRENT {175,175,175,125,0}

Just change the 4th value (125)
The 175 is because I've Wantai motors.

No signs of skipping steps.
38ºc working temperature after printing for 30 min. Measured the back of the motor with a thermocouple.
(Still playing with this, maybe the current could be lowered more)

Steps per mm: 810,26
(E3D Stock value was 837)

2) Thermistor changes:
Cartridge type "ATC Semitec 104-GT2"
#define EXT0_TEMPSENSOR_TYPE 8
#define EXT0_PID_MAX 255
#define MAXTEMP 300

Remember to run a PID Auto-Tune

4) Jerk + Accel EEPROM changes
Max Jerk 20mm/s
Acceleration 1000mm/s^2
Travel acceleration 1700mm/s^2

Stock was:
Max Jerk 32mm/s
Acceleration 1850mm/s^2
Travel acceleration 3000mm/s^2

I believe "acceleration" stands for to xyz printing moves and "travel accel" xyz travel moves. But don't really know how to properly calibrate this. I just lowered them a bit.

EDIT: Typo. It's actually 38ºc not 48ºc

Quick update, dual fan version almost ready. Printing one right now to test it.
* Reinforced body, I think it will be a bit stronger now.
* Hole for cable management widened.
* Fan mounts thickness reduced from 3 to 2mm.
* One more Zip-tie tightener.

You might want to put a sock on the heater block to prevent the fans from impacting the printing temp.

Yes my good sir, sock already installed. I just forgot to take the pictures with it
Currently using E3D's ones. Nozzle stays clean and there is no temperature drop. But after several prints, the burnt filament sticks to them and it's kinda hard to remove it. Weird because they advertise quite the opposite, maybe that's why they sell them in packs of 3.

The newer socks have a much larger hole where the nozzle fits through almost completely. Many people cut out the nozzle from the older socks, just to prevent what you describe. PETG seems to stick pretty hard to the silicone.

Along with the Aero I bought a pack of 3, but the older ones... I was looking at both links and messed up when placing the order. Luckily they send me one of the newer versions with the Aero.

Thanks for the tip, will do as you said and cut out a hole for the nozzle.


Another quick update, dual fan version tested and it's great. Printing the Hairy Lion atm.
Already uploaded to thingiverse. "Big Bertha" variant remains untested. If someone prints one, please let me know how it performs.

The violet filament was driving me mad, this one needed to be more neutral.
