Greetings to all. Well, here I go again diving into another hobby... I just finished assembling my first 3D printer and it feels like Christmas all over again! Kudos to SeeMeCNC for making a really great kit that goes together quick and is built with quality materials.

Who am I? A really quick introduction:
Family: 47YO, 2 kids 18/16, 1 in college (yikes!), married 21 yrs, 2 dogs
Professional: Ph.D. Scientist (chemistry), Systems Engineer @ GE for 16 years
Hobbies: R/C aircraft for 30 years (AMA 181735), Adv. Scuba Cert, 3 enlarger darkroom, private pilot, ham radio Extra class, meat smoking & jerky, gardening, trap shooting, outdoor enthusiast

Since pictures are worth a thousand words, here is half of my work bench.

My Rostock MAX V3 came in just before our holiday weekend. Thursday afternoon:

I was so excited I didn't sleep well Thursday night. Friday morning I started assembly and by midnight I had the firmware loaded and was calibrating the bed:

Saturday morning I awoke to my first printed object!

And a video I made this morning:

We are on a roll! Both my son and daughter want to use the printer. My daughter just started college and she said a guy in her dorm has a 3D printer, and the printer lab at school has four Rostock MAX V2s for the students to use.

This forum so far has been a big help getting prepared for the printer and staring out on the right foot. Thanks to mhackney and xenocrates for the guides and info!

Now if I could only find that Ebola virus cookie cutter STL file.... (wife is a molecular biologist.... 'Happy Wife, Happy Life!')

You really do make a quality kit and I enjoyed every minute assembling it. I felt like a kid again who just got his huge Christmas LEGO kit. There were some interesting moments to be sure, I wouldn't suggest working with the thermistors after only having three cups of coffee for breakfast! THANK YOU for including the extra thermistor! The only hard part was getting the top plate on at the end after the arms had been installed. My kit was missing the final twelve 1 inch 6-32 screws for the top plate, but my local hardware store had them in a pinch.

It's been printing 20 of the past 24 hours!
