Experiences with Catch for Android?

Post by BenTheRighteous »

I just discovered that Autodesk put out a 123D catch app that runs on my phone. In principle it kicks ass, it turns your phone into a 3d scanner! In practice though I haven't gotten it to work yet.

I tried using it on my pocket knife - nope, process failed. It doesn't give a specific reason why, but I suspect the knife was too shiny/glossy.

So I tried again on my wallet - nope, process failed. Not too sure about this one. Too many shadows maybe? Light not diffuse enough? It really doesn't say.

Anyway just wondering if anyone else has had success with it, and had any tips to share.

I tried making a model of my keyfob, I set it on my desk and took a ton of pictures, I ended up with a 3d desk and laptop and a blank space where they key was.
