Artemis 300 RTP

Post by felich »

I'm concerned about an issue that surfaced on my Artemis 300 right after I updated my Cura to 4.2.1
After every print job the extruder sags down and jams its hotend into the finished print.

Also, when I power off the printer the extruder sags down to the bed.

My other Artemis doesn't do that.
Is this a "feature" on the 300?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jim

Cura may be adding an M84 command at the end of the job. This will turn the motors off. The weight of the effector could then pull it down into your print. Check the post-print code in Cura. (not sure where that's at though)

You are right about the code.
There is an M84 near the end of the listing.
This wasn't an issue with my other Artemis.
Editing it out fixes the problem, but if I forget I get a ruined print.

The 300's steppers don't seem to have enough holding power to keep the head homed after cutting power to the motors.
Anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?

A powered off stepper has NO holding power. ;) I've got two machines that do this exact thing. It's not a mechanical fault.

Go into Settings->Printer->Manage Printer.
Click on the printer you want to modify and click on the "Machine Settings" button.

In the "End G-code" box, remove the M84 line and click Close to save it.

Fixed! :D
