AJAX errors an issue?

Post by Burley »

This isn't an Artemis specific issue, but it would be nice to have a CAT5 type interface option on the Duet board. In a shop with Mig/Tig equipment, brute force 40/50 Amp machining centers etc. nearby, the spurious RF activity pretty much kills 'wireless'. We had issues on other equipment and finally went with 'hard' data connections to resolve the RF noise problems. An arc is composed of 'all frequencies' so there is no effective filter. A shielded cable solves that problem. Any others having wireless disconnect concerns?

I am, but it also might be the firmware and there is a new release out.
My Artemis as v.1.19 and 1.21 was released last week.

There is already a Cat 5 option, it's called the Duet Ethernet. AFAIK it's not yet an option on the Artemis.

You can buy a Duet Ethernet and drop it right into the Artemis. The wiring connections are identical. You'll need to use the configuration from the Wifi version, with the Wifi commands commented out. The Duet Ethernet docs will show you how to configure it for your network.

You'll also need to either cut a hole in the clear window in front of the Duet or grab the Artemis CAD files from here: https://github.com/seemecnc/Artemis. Open up the file named "26775 Panel Cover REV B for Duet WiFi.IGS" using any design package that can open/edit IGES Files. You can then modify the part to accommodate the Ethernet cable and then print and install it. (Ain't open source grand? :D )
