Printer just kinda died, won't print but still on

Post by madox »

Hey guys, I hope someone can help me out. I have a H2 printer that has been working great for the last 6 months, with the help of this forum (thanks!).

Today I was doing a normal print job and it just stopped printing suddenly. The LCD screen stays on and looks ok but the control knob doesnt do anything anymore. Turning it off and on or resetting the board doesnt change anything. What kind of things should I look for to trouble shoot? Is a fuse blown? Reuploading the code to the board also changed nothing, with no errors.

One note: a few weeks ago I added the orion heatbed to the H2 according to the Practical Printing guy's instructions on youtube, and its been printing great since then.

Thanks!

The fuses are ok. When I power on the printer, LED1 flashes orange twice and repeats that pattern.
Not sure of this means something

When you re-upload the firmware, does the display show the normal "idle" screen? You might try uploading the eeprom_clear program and then re-upload the firmware. Note that you have to use the 1.6.0 version of the Arduino IDE for this.

Thanks for the idea. I tried that with no difference.

I noticed in the IDE, serial monitor was spitting out a lot of garbage. After poking around in the code, I saw that the serial port was set to 250000 baud which the IDE can not do. So I set the baud down to something the IDE can handle and got an error message of sorts! The printer prints out:

start
<bunch of data I dont have handy>
<a Transform object>
accelerometer initializing

then it starts all over again with the "start" line. So I suppose the acceleromoter has gone bad. Is that going to be the entire hotend board that is bad or is there a piece I can swap out, like the hotend temperature sensor?

Oh my god, the plug into the hotend board was slightly ajar. I guess the cable ran into a post and nudged it enough to push the plug lose.
Well at least I got practice taking the thing apart again. Now I have to calibrate again! :p

Yeah, if that whip connector comes even a little loose, it confuses the hell out of the RAMBo. :)
