i2c error accelerometer failed to initialise

Post by razzle »

Hi,

I have been troubleshooting my new V3 build for the last week and I think I have uncovered the cause of all my issues....

When I connect my printer to Mattercontrol I get a hardware malfunction warning.
If I unplug the i2c cable from the rambo I can manually move the printer axis around with no problem.
If I turn the printer off an re connect the i2s plug the orange light on the rambo flashes flatout non stop.
I have looked in the error scipt in mattercontrol and is says that the accelerometer failed to initalise/error etc.
Also the temp on the hot end in mattercontrol reads between -2.8 and 2.8 degrees while the bed reads at air temp.
All the lights turn on the accelerometer/hotend board no problem
I have removed the thermistor and checked it.... no problem there.

where to from here?

Cheers
Dale

Take a pic of your Rambo with connections and show us the color of the wires just to make sure nothing is hooked up weird. Did you clear and upload firmware? Are the wires on the whip correct? Is it possible any electronics were exposed to static shock during handling?

Pretty certain all the connections are spot on as i have checked that over and over...
i have the i2c plug disconnected it the second pic and pluged in on the first.1

It all works perfectly in mattercontrol with the i2c lead disconnected. .. apart from the fact that it wont print... but i can move everything in mattercontrol and it responds accordingly.

Static shock... i suppose it is possible. I would doubt it though.
I work on a wood table when building printers and repairing things...

Yep, i have cleared and uploaded the firmware a few times.
that was my original problem. I couldnt get theeprom sketch to upload.
disconnected the i2c lead and it loaded fine.
plug it back in and arduino wont communicate with the rambo.

Did you check the conection at the hot end? The conections at the Pluggable 8 position Push-In Wire Terminal Plug may be loose, happened to me with the accelerometer probe and was solved disconecting the Terminal Plug from the hotend and pushing the cables in.

Thanks for your input.

I have checked the plug to the hotend and have pushed the connections in to ensure they are not the issue.

I get a different responce in matter control terminal when i disconnect the i2c lead from the rambo board.
This tells me (in my mind) that its got a good connection, it just doesn't like the info that is coming through...

Check pin retention on your i2c both at the Rambo as well as the hotend. Maybe it is backing out when you connect it or a male pin got bent. Thanks for the pic, your wires are correct. You could check your fuses and capacitors for now and see if any are blown/bulging

I have checked the fuses on the board. All 3 are good.
caps look good with no signs of damage.

I2c is getting signal through.
I can move the x y and z axis in matter control if i disconnect it.
i cant if i plug it back in.

I get a hardware malfunction with it disconnected.
I get a initialization error with it connected.

If it was an issue with the wires there would be no change... or?

Once again, thanks for your input.. :-)

Your issue sounds similar to this post, they didn't post exactly what they found at the whip but my guess is the pinout may be backwards or incorrect.

Thanks for the link mate.
i have just commented on the thread to see what it was that solved the issue....
Mine is very similar to the issues they were having with the fkashing led etc.

Checking my whip again now... lol

Well... i have a slightly more functional printer now.

Seems there was a bad/intermittent connection on the whip.
i can now boot with the i2c plug connected.

However... i have a send receive i2c error when i run m261 in the terminal.

The int pin is marked as : 0
shouldnt this be : 7 as it is on position 7 for the pinout on the board....?

Making progress tho... :-)
