DUET and DUE PANEL

Do you print/build/make/create 'stuff' for modifying SeeMeCNC machines? Post them here if you do so others can see and inquire about getting them!

DUET and DUE PANEL

Post by plasma »

If anyone is interested to part with their DUET and DUE PANEL or maybe a spare one, I would be interested in buying one. Setting up a new printer and need the controller board and screen. Please PM

It hasn't been announced publicly, but I'm now carrying both of these products here in the USA. The Duet is in stock, and the PanelDue should be here late next week.

Oh my this IS good news thanks for letting us know!! I'll order a paneldue as soon as you have 'em in stock. They were out of stock when I ordered my duet.

(Along with some extra parts, maybe one of those fancy E3D PT100 Sensors... <sigh> just shut up and take all my money)

Sounds good. the Duet is on site, the PanelDue is enroute, I'll post here when it is on site.

The PanelDue is a bit limited, it is probably best to place your order now if you're interested if you wish to get one from the first batch.

Not to take business away from Filastruder (they're great) but you can easily assemble your own PanelDue and even make a monster 7" panelDavid sells a raw kit and has assembly instructions. No soldering necessary, it is basically plugging things together. I have 2 7" panels I did this way and they are monsters (and beautiful). The panels are cheap ($32US this is the exact unit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/360730895195" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

It's slightly more expensive to do that, Michael, no? $53 for the board then $27 for the panel, (give or take)? Filastruder is $60. Or am I missing something...

I'm not sure what the size of the Filastruder panel is. It looks fairly large, but it's not clear.

You get a 7" display. The smaller displays are cheaper than that too. But, if you want a 7" display, you have to roll your own.

my guesstimate on the screen at the $60 price is 4.3 inches based that he said the photographs came from the UK site

There was some misunderstanding between David Crocker (maker of the PanelDue), Think3DPrint3D (maker of the Duet) and myself, resulting in me thinking that LCD screens were going to be provided when in fact they are not - this is just the controller board. I have adjusted the price accordingly, and followed up with the folks that have already ordered. After the price adjustment, it is cheaper to purchase from Filastruder than from David Crocker if you are located in the US. ($49.99 vs $55)

I apologize for the confusion, but this does allow you to pick up your own 4.3" or 7" screen as you see fit.

thanks for the clarification elmoret. the text on your beta page though still says that the screen is included is that right?
looks like a fair price to me.... $179.98 inc shipping for both then about $42 for the 7 inch screen from china http://www.ebay.com/itm/Module-7-TFT-LC ... 1958042115" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

just need to think on if i want to keep learning the Rambo standard MaxV2 till I know know a bit more what I am doing or perhaps confuse myself by changing to the Duet/PD combo.

does your board come with the cable or just the pins as seen in the lowe left photo at http://www.filastruder.com/products/paneldue" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yes, the prefabricated PanelDue from Think3DPrint3D and Filastruder is 4.3" display.

@elmoret, thanks for the clarification. That price was too good to be true! But $49.99 with US shipping is great for the controller alone. The LCD displays are inexpensive and you can make a 7" panel if you want. David has great instructions on his site and I am prepping a blog post on making the 7" display. It took all of 15 minutes to make.

You talked me into it.
Because what I really need another controller board.....
I think I have more controller boards lying around in draws than I do hotends, and that is saying something.

Good catch. I'd edited the first paragraph but not the second. It should be taken care of now.

Just the pins at this time. I've asked David about getting some cables as well.

LOL, I know what you mean. I cleaned my "office" this weekend and I think I'm going to put a bunch or RAMBos and hotends up for sale cheap or free.

Would it be possible for you to stock the 7" displays for the Paneldue controller?
I do not want to purchase everything from you and then have to order the 7" display from China. The arrival time from China is terrible and
if there is a problem it could take months and a lot of shipping money to resolve it.

I 2nd the request. I did go ahead and order the 7" display yesterday afternoon from the link mhackney posted and got a ship notice about 5 hours later, but it would be nice to have one stop shopping the next go around. The Ebay supplier is based out of Hong Kong, so I suspect the Chinese new year may not be an issue.

I considered going the 4.3" route on the display, but shipping was going to be delayed because of the new year and after is was all said and done, the cost was going to be a wash.

I have seen a lot of talk about the Duet but haven't seen any posted print pictures. Will I see a noticeable difference or is just about connectablity and a fancy display screen?

Because it doesn't segment the delta kinematics (other than what is driven by the input STL), there are reports the striations that you can see when the light hits the parts are dramatically reduced.

All of the photos I've printed in the last 6 months have been printed on Duet printers unless otherwise noted.
FullSizeRender 15.jpg
I also - real and perceived - of segments kinematics.

Bottom line is, I see a difference in parts I design and control the process to produce a high triangle count STL file and then print on Duet with RepRapFirmware (dc42 branch). Can I prove it to you? I could if I had the time to do a side-by-side comparison as I describe in the blog and although this is something I want to do, it is pretty far down my stack of things to do.

But understand, if you are simply downloading STLs from thingiverse and expect the Duet/RepRapFirmware to be a magic bullet, don't be disappointed. Parts might look a bit better but not significantly. But, what you CAN expect is first class delta auto calibration, a very nice web interface, excellent network support so you no longer need USB, and a beautiful color touch screen display (with the optional PanelDue).
