I still don't know how to reconcile claims that "brand X PEI" doesn't work as well. I have PEI from every vendor I know about on 20+ different printers and I've never had one that doesn't work well AFTER a good cleaning and light sanding.
Even the thin stuff is fine, it works well.

Re: Cheapskate and arms options
Here's an example of the type of geometry that can be problematic for mag ball arms printed in PLA: Screen Shot 2017-05-24 at 11.48.28 AM.png To mitigate, improve cooling significantly, use .1mm layers, slow down significantly, add support to the hole/opening, etc. It can be printed with mag ball ar...

Re: A question of smell
Very interesting indeed. A new friend I visited recently in Calgary had a beautiful spool of amber PLA sitting on his shelf. I commented and he said "it sticks, it's yours if you want it" I jumped on it, I have a thing for translucent amber it seems. I brought it home and it prints beautif...

Re: Cheapskate and arms options
See Delta Arm Joint Musings for the whole story. I respectfully submit that magnetic ball arms - like all mechanical joint solutions - are a tradeoff. I have 1000s of hours of experience with them and all the others in my post above so, much like that insurance commercial, "I know a thing or tw...

Re: PEI Print Surface How To - recap
PLA - 60°C first layer and then 55°C for the rest of print
ABS - 75°C for all layers
PETG - 70°C for all layers
And DeltaCon is right on - let the bed come up to temp and equilibrate for at least 10 minutes at temps below 60° and much longer for higher temps.

Re: A question of smell
My hypothesis is the Prometheus stinks. But really, the only thing that could cause a smell is melt temperature OR the length of the melt zone and it's ability to outgas to the atmosphere. I suspect that even though you measured the same temp, it probably isn't. What kind of probe are you using? You...

BQ Cyclop 3D Scanner
I built this Cyclops from the kit and haven't touched it in at least a year. Everything is there, assembled and ready. The camera modification has already been done too. These kits are selling for $199 from China with injection molded parts - this one is printed. IMG_3276.JPG IMG_0096.JPG IMG_2489.J...

Re: Dual Extrusion
No multi extrusion is "simple" and only you can determine if it is "worth it" or not! If you have a legitimate problem you need to solve and multi extrusion is the solution, then it can be made to work. I can't speak for Repetier on RAMBo though as I have very little experience w...

Re: Dual Extrusion
Yes. I used the 713Maker effector and Chimera mount. You should be able to config Repetier and RAMBo but my experience is with Duet and RepRapFirmware. I've also done the Kracken on a Rostock V1 - that was quite the experience.

Re: Aero Mount
RE: the nozzle offset. It isn't really that big of a deal at this level. I printed for several years with one of 4 nozzles on a Kraken and never had an issue. One of the best hot ends I've had in fact for single filament printing.

Re: Aero Mount
Having already designed a mount for the Rostock MAX for both the Titan Aero and Bondtech BMG systems, I'll say: 1 - When adding that much weight to the effector, does it matter in a practical sense whether it is above or below the effector. Since the weight is at the end of an arm, it seems like pla...

Yeah but those regular bands in the first layer are an early indication of the pain to come! Something is not right.
Can you take a side view photo of your hot end so I can see the complete outline of the heater block and nozzle.

Re: LCD Shows blue but no bars on first power up.
Given your other post about the bed heating as soon as you power up, I recommend you go through ALL the wiring carefully again. As they say in Tuscatillo "Somthin' ain't right."

Re: Does bed heat on first power up?
No, it should not heat up until you tell it to either by running a print or entering a bed temperature in the controller. If it is heating as soon as you turn the bed on, you have a wiring or other problem.

Re: E3D V6 jamming
I don't think you have problems with filament being old or fat. You are experiencing something systemic that is not right. IR thermometers are not helpful and usually just make things worse since they are so inaccurate in this application. I think you can trust your thermistor and heater given that ...

David, is there a symptom if the PT100 wires are picking up interference? Fluctuating temp reading or similar?

Re: Hectic! But nice.
This is on a K250 delta but you get the idea. On an RMAX you can't use the back slot of the tower but you could use the side slot and maybe a printed bracket to wrap it around if necessary. I still consider the Nimble to be experimental . It will have to demonstrate itself in the long haul over many...

Re: Understanding Probing and Trigger Z Height
Firstly, the old adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to play! I would get things configured without using the sensor offset adjustment and then auto calibrate 3-5 times to make sure you are converging. If the calibration deviation is acceptable, I'd leave it at that. Your deviati...
