Re: Ethernet cable as power to hot end.

Thanks Jim,
Imagining it through it looks like all the nuts and bolts change over as well.
Did you get extra effector platforms as well ?

There is a ~$60 crimp tool recommended, so I am wondering if my $10 radio shack tool will work with the molex pins.

Re: Astrosyn Dampers on Orion?

I'll try to make a picture of the parts I had used. Quite simple, I used foam gaskets between the motor faces and the melamine, then 1/8 inch grommets and washers under the screw heads. I'll try to dig out a link to the gaskets, I think they were $2 for 4. The Astrosyn rubber layer is a lot harder t...

Re: Astrosyn Dampers on Orion?

I hate to "harsh anyone's buzz", but I put Astrosysns in my max a week or two ago and it is now LOUDER than it was with the foam gaskets, 1/8 inch grommets & longer motor screws - which had the advantage of barely needing a mm of hob gear out-shift. It isn't worth my time and trouble t...

Memo to self; Do STOP reading as soon as the word "SOLD" appears. Do NOT salivate, stuff pockets with cash, hook up horse trailer and plan route before reading DATES on old threads. @Eaglez; Sorry to hear of your back problems, mine isn't exactly "good" either - largely a problem...

Re: Ethernet cable as power to hot end.

Picked up two last night! Looks good but instructions are a little spotty. nitewatchman A couple of months later; I just found these and I am considering them (1 or 2 for now, maybe 3 so I have an excuse for a_NOTHER hot end). If I (& others) may benefit from your experience; How did they work ...

Re: Trick Trucks - Lightweight Aluminum Carriages by Trick L

Thanks for answering my next (unasked) question Brian - clairvoyance ? The rest of my bearings should be here TODAY -- C'mon postal serv...

Re: Trick Trucks - Lightweight Aluminum Carriages by Trick L

Thanks,
Yes, it is clear from the picture - and it is the hole that is for the side that takes only ONE roller.

I know I shouldn't obsess over this, but that cam looks to be awful short to be going into the plate.
Maybe the screw takes all the relevant force(s) and it doesn't matter.

Re: Trick Trucks - Lightweight Aluminum Carriages by Trick L

Anyone else get their OpenBuilds parts and try fitting them together yet ? I may be having a blonde/senior moment, but I had EXPECTED the eccentrics to fit inside the bearings. Either they fit inside the truck plates or I have the wrong eccentrics. My order SAYS 1/4 inch eccentrics, which is what Br...

FYI, if anyone else had to take a short shipment of the 625 bearings. Re: E3D has released new hotends!

I'll guess that the Volcano is a new INDUCTION HEATED hot end.
I imagine a nice little soft iron sleeve right around the nozzle, perhaps the nozzle actually threads INTO the soft iron sleeve.
VERY localized heating.

Re: Trick Trucks - Lightweight Aluminum Carriages by Trick L

Hmmm, 4, 5, or 6 bux a piece in some places. A little under $3 if I buy wheel kits, but I would need 8 kits and get a lot of bits left over, since I already bought everything else. A dollar each, but they are out of stock of the "BEARINGS ONLY" at OpenBuilds - though they have enough to ma...

Re: Question About Astrosyn Vibration Dampers Install

I got my astrosyn dampers this morning and set about installing the X tower one. See previous post, I had sponge rubber gaskets between the motors and the melamine and 1/8 inch rubber grommets under the screw heads, so I may already have a quieter than standard build, longer screws than standard. An...

I wouldn't expect either of those to "need" any support material.
The tops of the heads are open, no "roof" to worry about caving in.

I can't get them because I won't register/join.
