Re: New E3D V6 Thermistor troubles

Okay I used my multimeter on the thermistor itself. I set it to 200k because the next lowest was 20k and that had 0 result anyways. Set to 200k, the multimeter read 180. That doesn't seem right. So I'll figure out what I'm doing wrong and check again.

Re: Temperatures read "Def"

Lowering the min defect temp in the firmware is a slightly unsafe way of fixing this. Put mine to 10 since 11 is about the lowest it gets in the room.

Re: New E3D V6 Thermistor troubles

Thanks for the reply. The wiring starts from the board with the original white thermistor wires, at the top of the printer there is a JST where it changes to red/black wires that came with the NEW thermistor, then there is a JST-like connection at the hot end for a quick change. Previously it was ju...

Re: New E3D V6 Thermistor troubles

One possible issue, would love to hear thoughts: Instead of rerunning the wire for the thermistor, I just moved the JST for the original wire all the way to the top of the machine, so now I'm running 2 different wires for the thermistor, with a total of 2 JST connections. Would that cause issues wit...

New E3D V6 Thermistor troubles

Hello folks, I recently purchased the new upgrade heater block and thermistor (cartridge) to replace my seemingly useless M3 Stud Thermistor. I set the Sensor_Type to 8 (Repetier) and the thermistor constantly reports around 6.5-7.5 degrees C lower than the heat bed. I measured the temperature and t...

Re: Temperature overshoot, bad reporting

I ran PID again with the sensor type 1, and it seemed to work. I set it to 200 and it got up to 202 then hung around 199-201. Pretty good! Then I checked the temperature of the nozzle by placing a "pocket thermometer" (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004WE73N2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpa...

Temperature overshoot, bad reporting

Hello! I am still really new to all this, so forgive me for not being able to find a thread that is close to my issue, but here goes: I installed one of these right during the initial build of my Rostock Max V2: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Modular-Screw-on-M3-Stud-Thermistor-for-Reprap-Prusa-3D-Printer-...

Re: E3D-V6 hotend tip

I looked it up and I do believe the Sensor_Type is 1. "confirmed" by reading a Delta Printer book I got off Amazon. I'm going to try it tonight and see if my results are more accurate than the previous setting of 5. From the book: " 1 is 100k thermistor - best choice for EPCOS 100k (4...

Re: E3D-V6 hotend tip

I have been using one of the M3s I got off ebay that provided this table: http://reprap.org/wiki/Thermistor#EPCOS_100K_Thermistor_.28B57560G1104F.29 I should definitely be using sensor_type 1? I left it at 8 like E3d tutorial said...is that why my heat seems to be a little off pretty much always? My...

Gross First Print

I finally got my printer to print something! Exciting! But results are hot garbage. I used MatterControl 1.6 with pretty standard settings, aside from all the calibrating. I made the "custom" ABS filament profile, setting the heat to 230/100. I didn't mess with retractions, and my filament...

Well after some tinkering I got it to print one of the new fan shrouds. Pictures to follow. Looks pretty fugly but I'm sure I can clean it up. Gotta dial in those settings.

Heat Target Fluctuation

Hello printer people, A quick note about my setup: MatterControl 1.6 Rostock Max V2 E3D V6 M3 Stud Thermistor I just got to the point where I calibrated my printer for the first time (Z-height) and am ready to try my first print. I selected the cube that was pre-installed as my first print since the...

Re: Hot-End In-Line Wire Connectors? (Seeking Part Suggestions)

Yeah sadly I bought this $30 multimeter that doesn't have a temp probe. I'll take a look at a hardware store nearby. Thanks for the advice!

Re: Hot-End In-Line Wire Connectors? (Seeking Part Suggestions)

I really appreciate the reply. Just one problem, despite having a multimeter...I have no idea how to use it. I tried measuring resistance and ended up with a number around 3.5 or something. I thought I was measuring for 100k...so that shows you how much I know. I can probably figure out how to get a...

I'm using this thermistor with my E3D: http://www.ebay.com/itm/322048913417?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Why? Err...I read somewhere how these were easier to install and decent upgrades to start with. Starting to think I should have built my machine fully stock then...

Re: Hot-End In-Line Wire Connectors? (Seeking Part Suggestions)

Sorry for pulling a necro on this thread, but I have some questions about thermistors and these connectors. I ended up using these exact connectors for power and for my thermistor which can be found here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/322048913417?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%...

Brand New Build: Issues with heat?

Hi folks, I just built my brand new Rostock Max v2. This is my first 3d printer build and I have already run into tons of issues. Question 1) I brought my printer inside the house for the initial calibration. I started out with the E3D V6 so maybe I did something wrong but when it heats up, shouldn'...
