The new Duet Wifi Stepper Drivers are *quiet*

This printer was previously considered my "quiet" one, with 0.9 steppers and astrosyn dampers. Here's a 30 second clip of the printer running a small calibration object. You can barely hear the steppers over the e3d and part cooling fans. By far the loudest thing on this printer now is the...

Silicone + SSR + 110v AC = Awesomeness?

Hey guys, I'm almost ready to build a 400mm version of my SuperKossel, and trying to solve for the heated bed. http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5747 I've found a 350mm round silicone heater pad that works at 110ac https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0153O18JE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?i...

Re: I wrote a preprocessor that adds coasting support to KS.

Hey 626Pilot, If I'm understanding this correctly, your coasting script leverages the hysteresis of the bowden. You're using the remaining backpressure to complete the line segment between lifts and moves, right? And the --coast= value would be tuned to your specific setup? I wonder if backpressure ...

Re: What's the longest duration print you have attempted

I think 65 hours was my absolute longest duration print. That was a while ago, it was a large print, and I was running it at 20mm/s. Every once in a while I'll have a 12-24 hour print, some are just large full plate prints, others are medium size 100 micron prints. I just accepted an order for a 55 ...

Hey Jim, iirc Cope413 down in SoCal was talking about running a vacuum chamber, didn't hear much from him after the first flurry of posts. http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=6970&p=59513 I think he was even talking about offering it as a service, through MatterHackers I'd assume....

Re: Baking Water out of PLA

Ya know, honestly... only two. The first one was from when I was trying to find the right temp in my oven (ended up at 175f), and the second was from trying to find the rignt temp in the convection toaster oven I bought for this purpose (ended up at 150f) A good way to tell if you need to or not is ...

Re: Baking Water out of PLA

You'll definitely want to do this before using any new roll of filament. After that it's just a factor of your environment and how long you tend to leave spools out in the open air. I keep all my filament in sealed containers with desiccant packs. Spools are brought out for a print then placed back ...

Baking Water out of PLA

While I've been baking my ABS, Nylon, and PET spools for a while now, I thought I'd try the same thing with PLA to see what happens. Link takes you to the full size image. On the Left: you can see the shimmer of all the little air bubbles in the calibration square print, how the part turned out. Une...

50 micron print

I had a client that really wanted the highest resolution print I could manage, and I've heard that the Rostock was capable of 50 micron prints. This is the result. 5 hours @ 20mm/s, silver pla. Aside from removing the brim, no part cleanup. This is how it came off of the printer. The surface finish ...

Re: Large part... nozzles tripping over?

There's alot going on in that photo, and I have some spare time, so here's what I'd try if this happened to me with a print. (It looks like you're printing in ABS, and you're using an ABS slurry, if that's not the case then some of this won't apply) Your main 2 issues appear to be: (1) bed adhesion ...

Re: How do you dual-extrude in MatterControl?

I think I remember how the prime tower was used last time I dinked with the Cyclops last year. iirc, it used one diagonal half for extruder 1 and the other half for extruder 2, switching for each layer. I've loaded up a couple of models now, and I'm not seeing that, it's filling the tower with extru...

Re: How do you dual-extrude in MatterControl?

Yeah, in my case it's immediately switching to extruder2 without using the prime tower. the end result is that the supports are mostly printed with ABS. It's priming for every layer, but only using extruder 1 for priming. The it draws the object, then immediately draws support using extruder 2, then...

Re: How do you dual-extrude in MatterControl?

Hey 626Pilot, When you're running through the gcode in layer view, do you see the prime tower used at all before using extruder 2? I'm not running a 2 model, but just using extruder 2 for support, and although it's generating the prime tower just fine, it's not priming before switching extruders, on...

Re: E3d Cyclops using ABS + Hips

Hey Delta, So far all of my ABS+HIPS prints have been brittle. I'm still holding out hope that a large enough priming tower would help, but so far no luck. I suspect that no matter how much priming you do, some HIPS gets mixed in the chamber with the ABS, but I'm not ready to call it quits yet. I pr...

ABS juice for PETg bed adhesion

I was having bed adhesion issues with a recent large-ish PETg print with my PVA gluestick, so tried gluestick + ABS juice out of desperation.

Turns out it works really well.

I still haven't tried my PEI sheet, so don't know how it works with PETg.

Re: how to switch from abs to pla

Yikes, good catch. I updated my response with a note that I'm using E3DV6s and the temps I run at may not be everyone elses. Also, interesting discussion about print temps. There are no typos in my response. I generally print ABS at 260c, and PLA at 230c. There are always exceptions, but most of my ...

Re: Need Alternative to Elmer's Glue Sticks [SOLVED]

Interesting feedback on the BuildTak. I'll hold off on it for a bit while I get a feel for the PEI sheet. I ordered the 0.04" sheet, if it works out I'll probably go with the 1/16" in sheets for both printers. I wonder if I could get away with just clipping them to the build plate instead ...

Re: how to switch from abs to pla

If you're asking how to switch filaments on the printer, here's what I do. The general ghist is to remove the existing filament by heating to it's borderline glass transition temp, then heat to the hottest temp between your old material and new to flush out the nozzle. **NOTE:** These temps are for ...
