Re: Black PLA

Cooking oil, vegitable oil, that sort of thing.

Just wipe a short portion of the filament pre-extruder side and allow it to feed, repeat every few hours, works like a charm.

No smoke! LOL

Although I do seem to get a hankering for some fries when printing! :P

Re: Hall effect sensors for end stops. Any tips?

Hey 626Pilot, I am unclear on the exact way that the hall-o sensor is assembled. I can't quite picture it. I have the hall-o and I have you stl printed out but can't get the assembly of the magnet and rod portion right in my head. Could you show a close pic of yours, or perhaps a diagram of some kin...

Re: Auto-Calibration - $100 Bounty and Bragging Rights

It appears that the current version of smoothieware does do both z-height calibration for each tower and also delta radius adjustment for you as well. I have not used it myself yet. But here is a link to the process and description of how it proceeds. http://smoothieware.org/zprobe" onclick=&qu...

Any Azteeg X5 owners, a little help please.

I am not sure, I may have gotten a bad board. I cannot get it to boot at all. I connect it to usb and it simply does not recognize that I have even done so. I have tried putting the "firmware.bin" file and a "config" file, both from github edge source. All four LEDS on the board ...

Another stainless hotend I found.

Just thought I would drop this here. It's another all metal hotend, looks promising.

Seems only for 3mm filament however.

Yes, if your handy with a iron I agree solder a socket for automotive blade type fuses in place. So easy to source and allows for a easy run to nearly anywhere to get what your after at almost any time of day.

If my memory is correct, and I may be wrong here, you need 200 AMPS sustained to create a decent bond. (Or was it 800, hmm, I'll see if I can figure this out more accurately for ya)

When I first gave the dampers a try for the first time I was amazed. It took some time for me to finally convince you guys to try it and see how substantial the difference is. One of the primary reasons that they do their job so well is because a ridiculous amount of money and research has gone into...

Re: Who would be interested in tig welded magnetic ball join

I'm certain that cambo is not intending to weld any megnet at all. This is not how the magnetic arms are being utilized. The magnets are on the boom and glued and bonded to the boom and the ferrous steel balls and studs are welded together and mounted to the effector and carriages.

I was trying to get to the store today for some cheap window tint to give that a try as a build surface. Store closed before I could get there. So I am sitting here and thinking if I have any window tint hiding anywhere here and I come across 2 other possible build surface coatings. Monokote from th...

The "Raw" then "save as" proceedure seems to have done the trick for me for the 2d files.

I agree with you on the iges alternative versions for the 3d solid files.

Thanks guys.

Re: Makerbot 5th Generation: Slop and Wiggle

I dont really see the slop and play demonstrated in that video to be of any concern due to the lack of stresses that a 3d print head experiences.

If the head get's deflected at all during printing, especially that much, requiring that much force there is something very wrong.
